2013 Lineup

Really happy about what has been announced so far. I don't like eminem but I'm sure there will be a decent alternative. I like watching headliners on all stages anyway. I hope blur are announced so more of my friends are tempted. However if it was up to me personally I would like sabbath.

Yeah that's another cool thing about them. Me and three of my mates who are all into the Beatles all have different favourite albums.

Yeah anyway, 2013 lineup;

I realised the other day that Sabbath are probably the only potential headliner that will get me there. Obviously it's not all about the headliners but the likely undercard doesn't seem like it will be that great so far either.

How are other people feeling about how the lineup is shaping up?

See, people say this, but for how many bands have you heard 50-odd songs by and 7 complete albums multiple times, found them all ranging from dull to mildly likable, and still made an effort?

I'm willing to bet there are very few if any bands people do that for, and I'm not prepared to do it for the Beatles just because they're the first modern pop band.

Yeah I know what you mean about back catalogues, and that how I tend to get in to bands, but I've always found the opposite with The Beatles. When I first started secondary school we spend a good half a year purely studying them, which was cool learning about their history and stuff (that's when I sort of fell in love with John Lennon :ninja:) but I could never get into the albums/record I listened to for my homework. I just found single tracks I liked- Come Together, Here Comes The Sun, Lucy In The Sky... In fact, there were quite a few tracks I liked, but I just couldn't get interested in the albums- and therefore I found them overrated. But yeah, as you say, everyone's entitled to a different opinion and I guess I'm just destined to think like that :P

Good point about influences though. You have to give them credit for seemingly influencing basically every band since them :P

On the line-up, I more interested in what we think is likely to be announced. Foals are excellent, and Biffy & System will be good, but other than that I'm not particularly a fan (although I might give FOB and Deftones a watch). I'm more keen to see the up & coming bands Drenge, Deap Vally, Mallory Knox etc, and whilst I reckon they'll get announced, I'm tempted to try a smaller fest where they're going to get longer sets and a better turnout.

That'll probably change in March though...

If only I lived in London, would be there I a flash. Checked train ticket prices this morning after seeing the tweet from the foo fighters twitter account. Cheapest train return I could muster was £120 then I'd need a hotel on top of that. Basically it would have cost me more than a ticket to Leeds. Shame really.

Welcome to my world. Nobody does gigs up here. I spend a fortune on them. Tremonti in Edinburgh this weekend is 7 hours round trip in good conditions but if last night's trek to Australian Pink Floyd is anything to go by it'll be a lot longer. I felt like an ice road trucker on the way home :)

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
