If this was 1989 I'd agree with you. Everything the guy does is stuck in the past, from his mediocre albums to his god awful dress sense. Axl might not be everybodies cuppa tea, but at least he progressed with Chinese Democracy,

Slash however is stuck in the past.

when i went to see TCV, i went to see TCV as a whole not the "dave grohl experience".

the same applies for the foos, i go because i enjoy their music.

if i wanted the "dave grohl experience" then i'd bombard someone with fanmail until this occurred.

its like people going somewhere to make a statement because its "cool" instead of being there for the reason that its portrayed for. ie going to a festival because it makes you look cool instead of being there for the bands.

I still by what I say, it wouldn't matter what was played, they were won over instantly by Dave. if that was a secret set or infact just the band without Dave Grohl in it, people wouldn't give a shit who they were.

I've not heard much of the Sound City Players to think any different. Again, Dave's in it so people are like OMG. Not a huge fan, heard one song I think it ok-ish and it's corey singing it

As I've pointed out, legendary status or not, know one by all accounts gave a shit about JPJ and Josh Homme maybe but he doesn't live upto what Dave does. The majority of that gig went to see Dave and only cared about Dave, what came was a bonus and anyone who says different is lying. Certain musicians carry a whole, it's him/her/them and that's all that matters, whatever they do it great and Dave Grohl is one of them.

Oh and this whole TCV debate, I have to admit even though I like them and love all of their respective bands.....something jus didnt click for me. I still enjoy their songs but rarely if ever listen to them now. And I agree, at Download they didnt impress me as much as I'd hoped. But either way, I know alot of people do love them and the whole "just seeing Dave" thing can't be generalised for everyone.

Not bothered about Sound City Players either. Seems abit gimickey to me.

Oh yeah, I know that, I just meant I've never gotten it myself. Find them pretty average tbh (although I know they're obviously incredibly talented & all that).

I think the fact that I've always hated Paul McCartney has had a negative impact on their music for me...

As far as TCV go if any member made me want to see them the most it was Josh Homme... also they were incredible at Download the crowd was just very dull... people were just talking about AC/DC around me so maybe if they played before anyone else they would have gone down great. Also in regards to their position they played ridiculously high at a lot of fests... I think they should have been third down but considering the sort of slot they seemed to get at other fests Download did the right thing. I would love it if they turned up at Reading this year... very unlikely though.

On this one i believe it can easily be a generalisation

Do you want to find where I said people will be expecting them, as opposed to I think anyone expecting it will be disappointed?

Huge difference. I'd read some people saying hopefully we get a few Foo's songs etc.
