I'm starting to come around to the idea of Linkin park headlining... especially since they are doing Summer Sonic... still seems odd them playing above SOAD but then again LP would prob do a 90 mins headline set so SOAD could have a longer sub set. Maybe this for main:

Linkin Park

System of a Down

Deftones

Frank Turner

Bring Me The Horizon

Panic! At The Disco

Twin Atlantic

Alkaline Trio

While She Sleeps

Eminem

Bloc Party

Foals

Editors

Bat For Lashes

The Horrors

Everything Everything

Metric

D12

Biffy Clyro

Fall Out Boy

Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Phoenix

Billy Talent

We Are Scientists

The Joy Formidable

The Blackout

Don Broco

do they actually have anything new to play at R&L? that Download and Soni haven't already had. Be a weaker booking than Linkin Park. You'll laugh but at least they have a new album out. Metallica's last big tour here struggled to sell out. Set at Soni, then a set at Download - which they only managed to pull of cause it was the black album and not just greatest hits.

i'm fairly confident it won't be metallica, i know MB's words are to be taken with salt but his no metal headliner rule would still apply i'd say if LP headlined. Metallica or Sabbath it wouldn't and one of those are most likely in America at the time.

I'd have thought if it was going to be Sabbath, Download wouldn't made this possible themselves, it's right up their street.

i think realistically you need to change your Friday to Linkin Park. One of the guys on the download board who said it isn't just an average make up guy i don't think. And it does all fit. New album, no uk shows, also did the Friday the last time with Linkin Park playing the same fest, played with Linkin Park before. Apart from about a year made their rises at the same time.

There is plenty of people who would see Metallica in their only show of the summer. They will have played 3 times in 3 years in the uk. I also don't believe they need any new stuff to play either. Last year they did the black album plus 4-5 more. This year they could easily do greatest hits.

Last year they had three bands who had played festivals the year before. In foos they did I tunes festival, T, IOW and two huge shows at MK Bowl.

Kasabian did iow, three days at the O2, men arena, Birmingham, and a host of others.

The cure are the only one that differs with one show at bestival.

I had forgot about that no metal headliner comment. Where did that one come from again?

It's still 3 festivals, 3 years running. From what i've read, Metallica have always played R&L for the release of a new album. I don't think it's them.

A guy on download boards who has said a band has been playing before and wasn't shitting about said it's Linkin Park, after also telling someone else who seemed to know and have info to stop messing about and just say.

They haven't been ruled out. Only by people on here who don't think they fit the mould of what was said in the interview. You think a band that are touring the U.S it's been said in July and August are still playing? The fact that in the same piece it said Europe Nov/Dec.

I did say they said Paramore were headlining at all. I said a guy over on there had posted a prediction, you know, just like us?, without actually knowing, just guessing. I posted a link to that actual page on here too for verification.

Iommi, I think it was, did an interview.

Pick the odd one out from these:

  • Metallica; they supported Metallica years ago which could have been instrumental in the success of their band, would gladly play a one-off sub for them.

  • Black Sabbath; they played Ozzfest a few times early in their career which could have been instrumental in the success of their band, would gladly play a one-off sub for them.

  • Linkin Park; started a couple of years after SOAD with a commercialised brand of metal, they played a different day of a festival years ago, would gladly play a one-off sub for them.

Also, this thing on the Download boards literally never happened. It's just a group of posters discussing who could be the third headliner, like what we're doing. You're making people up again. I can't find this interview where they explicitly stated they'll be in the States until the end of August so I'm gonna assume that's made up too.

Also, I don't think it's Metallica before you say so, I'm just using that as an example.

    • Very different in terms of time of game,  yet remember how excited I was before the first game in Euro 2016 having grown up not sure I would ever see wales in an international tournament. That day scraped a win against Slovakia and was just happy to see wales score and win at a tournament, little did I know we would finish in the top 4. Hope Scottish fans get the same experience.

    • I don't think I'm alone as a Scotland fan that there is no way that I could possibly fall asleep knowing we're about to play our first World Cup game in 28 years! Pure adrenaline is keeping me wide awake (and plenty of rum)!
