Saw the programming/crowding being discussed, thought it needed it's own topic and couldn't find one to dig out... What do you think should be going down on those days? Clearly I'm in the minority because I loved the atmosphere on those days across the site over the last couple of years! Didn't think it was that bad at all. My favourite days of the festival tbh. Just saw someone suggest it just needs to be shut on Wednesday! Nooooooooooo don't take my greenfields day! 🤣5 points

F*ckin hell. I've never said they are impossible for Glastonbury. I've mentioned several times Glastonbury and Coachella are different level and we should not compare them to other festivals. Coldplay love Glasto and wouldn't be surprised if Chris Martin was already pitching a tent there and did the show for free (just a joke of course). I swear he's showing up there as a special guest every year. So no, it's not just a matter of money and Coldplay ARE impossible for Sziget. More "gnagnagna blabla" incoming 😉4 points

And over the last 3 T Days, at least, I think many/most/all of us have had that terrifying feeling. Live every moment, team. This ain't for forever, for any of us. Ben x4 points

Clever move to keep this off the poster so that the crowds dont go f**king bananas.3 points

Looking at their recent Festival setlists and taken into account new songs I expect they will have the top 14 and then 2 from the lower list and then maybe 1/2 newer/random ones. This is new levels of lunacy people, seriously suggesting that we cut a day off the festival. Surely, we're all here because it's the greatest place to be for five days? I'm baffled that people would suggest losing a day, what has the world come to?2 points

Imo their best album is High Violet, though a lot of their most accessible songs are also on Boxer and Trouble Will Find Me.1 point

Everywhere!! Haha On the music days you just have to go with what's near the acts you wanna see don't you.... so I'd be lying if I didn't say the main thing my eyes are clocking everywhere on the first two days, is the food traders lol. Don't know how people just eat burgers or chips all weekend! I'm making sure I know where the good stuff is nearby at all times1 point

This year will be my 11th festival - and never yet considered giving up my ticket 1. there’s too much else on for me to be too worried what’s on the poster 2. there’s not been one year without at least 6 or 7 bands I really want to see - which is all you really need to plan your days around Also, personally I think the line up is considerably better than last year. There’s loads of variety across the poster and (for me) genuine clashes across the headline slots for all the stages - but that’s an unpopular opinion 🙂1 point

My guess for Glasto would be something like this in order: Once Upon a Poolside Eucalyptus Tropic Morning News System Only Dreams Bloodbuzz I Need My Girl Graceless Space Invader Alien Day I Die England Fake Empire Terrible Love Mr November About Today Vanderlyle Slightly condensed version of their recent tour sets and focusing on the more obvious and popular songs - I reckon the above would win over a few. And maybe they throw in Bat Child if they've polished it enough by then.1 point

Fat white family have a new album out in May. Brilliant band, seen them at the park in 2019.1 point

Fantastic band, seen them 5 times now and not been disappointed at all1 point

That doesn't say something completely different - it actually confirms Wales as being a country, since there is a Welsh Government 😅 The UK government refers to the UK as a country of countries.1 point

Watching the best bands in the world and your fave bands in pouring rain is depressing and horrible. Tis really that simple. Dry weather and any music is always best1 point

Waiting for the dance areas to knock it out the park (as ever). Don't be surprised to see pretty much all these names (some of them already are on the poster):1 point

I think there’s a new generation of attendees coming through who want things to do on those days and not just sit about in campsites/lying on the floor in the SC1 point

Yeah similar here really. I was a bit "meh" about the poster but was also slightly relieved that there are no huge must sees for me - I stressed so much about how to get a good position for Macca! Also with you on the National as the only headliner so far but there are a few maybes - Coldplay will be great I'm sure but not bothered if there's something else I want to see then as I've seen them before. Now just to start stressing about the stage drops and the weather of course! Oh and with you again about Earth Wind and Fire and Art Garfunkel in 2016! Amazing! I saw Adele too but can't remember who my third headliner was (if I saw one at all, I may have just wandered a bit!) Edit - just remembered when I was answering another thread - it was Richard Hawley up at the Park - that was a slog!1 point

Hydrogen isn't efficient enough at individual vehicle level, plus my EV will sit with the heater running for 24+ hours, much longer than a liquid fuel car1 point

Have you done a proper wet one? And I mean proper wet! If you have, even hinting at drizzle should have you banned from buying a ticket ever again. No rain, of any type, ever! 2010 All over again Woohoo1 point

Thanks, you helped tip the balance. Managed to get a mobile home slot too. Can’t wait! First non UK festival.1 point

I was a pretty casual watcher in 2016 (wasn't bothered by other other options, friends were going, why not give em a go) and I was totally won over to the point it's one of my all timers. I'd still actively chosen to go and see them rather than like with some Pyramid subs where people are maybe there to stake out a good spot or just because it's the Pyramid, so it is slightly different, but still, shows they can win over the casual1 point

Sorry, but if The Smiths,The Beatles & Elvis Presley were headlining, I'd stand through hellfire and brimstone for a weekend.1 point

They said good weather so I assume we get to choose what is good weather. For me perfect Glastonbury weather is dry ground so you can sit anywhere, blue skies but not actually too hot. After a few days a little shower overnight to keep the dust down.1 point

Cheap framed ones here; https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005444844834.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.3.2cc255ba4jxDeP&algo_pvid=24a98bc1-be4d-459a-b7e3-8971ddfb0e77&algo_exp_id=24a98bc1-be4d-459a-b7e3-8971ddfb0e77-1&pdp_npi=4%40dis!USD!1.99!1.99!!!1.99!1.99!%40211b600217105493947954628ea50d!12000033107114621!sea!US!904084002!&curPageLogUid=jlJtvArldoYC&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch|query_from%3A&gatewayAdapt=4itemAdapt Obviously they'll be a P & P charge to consider, but framed ones will last the weekend - only in theory though. They may well get lost along the way.1 point

The Last Dinner Party - stunning on Woodsies last year, and just gone stratospheric since then. Other Stage this year!1 point

Tricky because I agree the lineup was brilliant in 2016 but bloody hell it was hard work. But actually, surprisingly there wasn't that much rain over the weekend, it was mostly beforehand. Agree with Northernangel that watching someone in the pissing rain is not fun. And then, last year, 2022, 2019 were if anything too bloody hot. I struggled. So could I go for midway for both please, early 20s, no rain, decent lineup but not stellar.1 point
-
Hmm that’s a tricky one because a lot of people are saying this is a poor line up but it’s absolutely fine for me. I don’t think they could ever have 2000 acts and have me be unable to pick 20 acts so I might as well have decent weather to help with the running from stage to stage.1 point

This is their first ever European show so it's a reasonable deal. They'll hope it helps them break into a new market and glasto gets a niche global act thats new and interesting for the fest for cheap. They've done some decent arena tours in the states so they've had some western penetration. Spotify is more a western tool so it shows they've got fans but not too crazy outside of their home markets. I know they sold out stadiums in Bangkok very quickly at £217 for standing. I think it's a really good interesting booking for where they're slotting (probably 5th/6th down on pyramid)1 point

Chaka Khan would hopefully be playing before or after Janelle Monae given the lovely Prince connection. Janelle was so amazing the last two times I really think she deserves an evening slot she puts on an amazing show. I wish she was headlining Sunday night at WH again.1 point

I definitely wouldn’t give up my ticket even if there were no acts on the poster I wish to see. Even if the impossible happened and there was no music for me, I’d spend the time in Theatre & Cabaret, and go to every bar!1 point
-
For me it's all about the music and I must admit I'm totally fed up with this lineup so far. For me the drop off in quality on the first poster drop compared to the last time I got tickets (2016) is unreal. Pop/R'n'B is not my thing and the first poster drop is choc full of it. Looks to me like in striving for gender equality the festival is losing diversity of genre. Hoping some more interesting acts get announced before we have to pay the balance, currently trending to give up.1 point

There is not one person who is returning their ticket purely in the strength of the first poster. Not one. Some may have another factor in play and the lineup is the clincher, but I’ll wager you can measure them in low double digits. Anyone who has been before won’t be. Anyone who has previously missed out won’t be. Anyone who is at least cognoscente of the fact that a ticket is far from guaranteed any year won’t be. I could be wrong* *I’m not1 point

Bring back the silent discos, always used to be a decent draw on Thursdays and there being more than one location was a big help. Having acts play on Thursdays was always an issue, I remember the carnage of Maximo Park in 2009, felt like the entire festival turned up.1 point

BTW Avalon squad, I've recently taken over admining a WhatsApp group for Avalon volunteers (former Shelter group, from Symone who's having a year out) - messaging is currently turned off so you won't get bombarded but will turn it on in April when training emails go out. (I am not affiliated with Avalon it's just a way for volunteers to keep in touch.) If anyone wants in, send me a pm with your phone no on here and I shall add you 🙂1 point

And Coachella gets laughed at for taking chances with younger acts getting the too billing. Then Glasto dares to do it every few years and is crucified for it. Theyre going to have to do it eventually cause theyre running out of the old Michael Eavis special. So all the old gits gotta get used to the new normal.1 point

If you’d be so annoyed by the lineup you could just not pay your balance and take the ~40£ of loss. Apart from the pyramid headliners Glastonbury has a great lineup in my opinion and I’d accept most of the bands from the poster to play Sziget.1 point
