  1. Pleased I started a debate about this. For those who’ve said “let people do what they want”, I agree to an extent. But the point is it’s incredibly distracting to see the light, and if you’ve paid for a gig you are entering into a contract to watch and experience the artist. It’s not an excuse that people “experience it in a different way”, if you want to be on your phone then you can watch clips on YouTube sat at home. I think the baseline is about respect. Respect the artist, film, theatre, whatever it is, respect the audience.

  3. Got mine! Going to be very strange rocking up fresh as a daisy at 11am on Sunday but I fully intend to rinse every minute out of it. I'm arranging to get picked up at 8am on Monday, I'll sleep when I get home

  4. PS is the leading festival in the area for that kind of acts, if not the whole Europe. MA are playing the weekend after. If they wanted them very bad as was the case with SZA, for example, they would have likely won them over other festivals. ofc we don’t know everything but I can’t see why MA would not want to play primavera if given what they asked for

  5. Change of priorities? It doesn't imply anything at the moment. Have you simply considered the tour routing and exclusive clauses may have been the issue and not a question of whether the festival wants them? Gabi has mentioned wanting the smile but it didn't work out. Massive Attack I'm assuming the reason will be revealed when other fests announce them in Spain, potentially an exclusivity clause at Sonar for example. LCD Soundsystem could simply just not be around, the UK tour dates are yet to be announced and they are in Europe at the earliest so far in July. Again they could also be an exclusive. I think people are setting themselves up for failure for expecting every act they want on the line up.

  6. Their absence, as sad as it is, might be related to million other reasons like schedules, artists decisions or when they decided to tour, and not necessarily implies a change in priorities from the organisers. Especially when they were not replaced by Karol G or Kylie Minogue, but replaced by other PS kind of bands like Beth Gibbons or Pulp I'd really love to see all three of them on, but let's not jump to conclusion about future directions from this

  7. Anyone saying they wouldn't have used it for 'moral' reasons is being untruthful imo... I would have used it if I'd have known about it. The blame lies with SeeTickets.

  8. Massive Attack were literally the first name (as headliner) on the Primavera Sound poster for last year!!!

  9. There used to be a thread on here with vinyl bargains which seems to have vanished. Anyroad Rarewaves have some pretty good offers on, including Melodrama for about 11 quid. https://www.rarewaves.com/products/0602557547108-melodrama?_gl=1*1027iew*_up*MQ..&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI36HEuPHfggMVxpJQBh03oQKHEAAYASAAEgLzBvD_BwE

  10. I used to be with 'it'. But then they changed what 'it' was. Now what i'm with isn't 'it' anymore and what is 'it' seems weird and scary. It will happen to you!

  13. Yeah they will go quick... it's Glastonbury! Be ready on the dot 🙂

  14. Can I just say this is a really cool and healthy debate? I personally like to take one or two pictures/videos but make sure my phone isn't out of my pocket for more than 90 seconds across those. A couple of 30 second videos are ok, but anything more than that I just won't watch back, it's pointless. Florence Welch always makes a point of telling people to put their phones away during Dog Days Are Over (which is possibly her biggest song so must get so annoying seeing people recording it every night for that reason). I went to see her at Nottingham Arena and she made a point of praising the crowd for only occasionally recording footage on their phones. She said that from her perspective it really helped her gauge the energy of the crowd and connect with them. The crowd were so understanding of that and obliged as they now understood the performer's perspective. Also... people recording lots at Glastonbury is insane. It's all on TV for you to watch back. Maybe record 10 seconds so you have a snapshot of your perspective, but the amount of phones in the air on TV coverage is ridiculous.

  15. Never mind "get ready", you were born ready

  16. None of us know what happened. I am sure they are in touch with many acts who are active, it might just not have worked out for whatever reason. There's always potentially next year if the acts are around again.

  17. I did Live is live last year. Really liked it, old school festival - just six bands on main stage and a few small ones on a tiny stage. Easy to get there from Antwerp station, loads of hotels to choose from and great food options on the site. With only six bigger bands per day, you clearly need to pick the right day, but that Pumpkins day looks tempting.

  19. 1. You should be fine until approximately the start of the balance payment window as that's when most people will start to plan this properly. Some individual departure times may fill up before then, but there's enough departures overall that you should still be able to get one half an hour earlier/later. 2. Yes, there's a definite risk that prices go up, especially on the more popular departure times as they can use pricing as a way to stagger demand. Personally I'd say to buy now (indeed, I've already bought my own).

  20. Parking is literally the next field so it’s about a 2-5min walk to the gate to get wristbands at Sticklinch, they have people with wheelbarrows to help too. Is a flat walk mostly, smaller site than WV. Showers, flushing loo blocks, compost loos, need more water points and a bar. A few food outlets. Gate directly from Sticklinch into festival- flat but longish walk to main stages - about 15/20 mins to Other. Park and Arcadia was nearest and green fields

  21. Somewhere out there, in a parallel universe, there's a Primavera Sound which has Massive Attack, The Smile and LCD Soundsystem on the lineup. In that world there are people whinging on the internet because Pulp, Lana del Rey and Beth Gibbons are not playing 🤡

  24. A lot of those costs come with running CV fields too, and you get a bigger patch of land there compared to what you get at WV. Hiring tents, showers, toilets etc I get but still seems a bit steep compared to CV. I've stayed at WV twice and loved it but not sure the cost is justified for a 2 man tent you couldn't swing a cat in and that you boil alive in if it's warm with no means of ventilating with windows etc.

  27. Cala Mijas / Kalorama have some good reviews on the forum. Maybe Lollapalooza Berlin if its lineup is your thing. Lowlands is awesome, but keep in mind that it normally sells out in an hour.

  28. I can assure there is no autotune here. I personally love her voice these days. Yes it’s aged and she had to change a few melodies back around 2000 as she can’t get high these days but there’s a wonderful gravitas to it as she tells these stories.

  30. Blink are very hit and miss live I've found (seen them 6-7 times). I think it depends a lot on the vibe of the day and the crowd around you as much as the band. They're a party band, if everyone is up for it, theyre great... if not... I enjoyed them a lot their last two times at Reading

  31. Primavera and Mad Cool are the same - I prefer late starts - more bands with proper light shows in the dark.

  32. A bit different as festival because it starts late in the afternoon but Nos Alive is easy with hotel in Lisbon. Made it this Summer and hopefully next Summer too.

  33. Strongly agree about the first part, the lineup is good and people are comparing it to last years instead of this year- when other festivals will publish their lineups it will be easier to see. But, and I'm saying it as non-brit - you're way off about The Smile, Massive Attack and LCD Soundsystem - their huge, it's not just a brit thing

  37. It’s probably because they don’t want Lana to go past the curfew in Reading so even if she is 30 minutes late like she was this year at Glasto, it won’t matter.

  43. As I bought an Early Bird ticket for BKS24 back in June, I got an email a couple of days ago offering me the chance to pre-book the fixed accommodation (pre-pitched tents, cabins, etc.). That offer ends at noon next Monday 27th, so I would assume the announcement and general sale will start very shortly (if not immediately) after that. Possibly an announcement Monday morning, then sales start at noon...

  44. I like one photo from a gig to go in my folder as it's nice to have one visual reminder as a trigger for happy times. But that's my lot. The filming thing I will never get, not really. Saw Soft Play supporting Prodigy on Monday, and as soon as they came into the crowd for walkabout all you could suddenly see was phone screens. The guys are right there in front of you, just get involved! Remember having to steam in watching Vintage Trouble at BDs a few years back because Ty's crowdsurf was about to go tits up as everyone was filming and no-one was there to carry him. Ended up with maybe 2 of us holding him up before enough people realised and put their phones down to join in!

  46. Syndicates have been buying tickets since he early 2000s, so I’m not sure why you’re getting your knickers in a twist about it now. Maybe get more friends if it bothers you so much. People manipulating See’s website has been happening since 2012. And you’ve got absolutely no evidence of how many tickets were purchased this way this year. It’s almost certainly much less than you think. neither justify being a twat and jibbing in for free. And frankly, the less bitter twats we have in, the better it will be for the rest of us there.
