Robbie rumoured to be on a big summer tour next summer - Lytham teasing his announcement for tomorrow. Seems even more likely that it’s him in the spot next year.

If he’s doing Powderham the timing and locality puts him very much in reach of Glastonbury just down the road

The clips I saw the lad was swinging it around for ages.

Imagine trying to watch a band and you’ve got a tennis ball whizzing past your head very 10 seconds.

But yeah giant tennis rackets and sausage flags unacceptable

Why do we not like the sausage flag? Have I missed something?

Jesus. I don't think I've seen anyone suggest this. Yep. I'll have that.

Having seen him last night, I'd say it would be the ultimate legend booking. Count me in!

Kind of feels like since he said he wants to play the legend slot - its one in the bank for GLasto -

Guess we just wait till his tour schedule alines and its a slam dunk.

He is only 52 - (youngest ever legend slot I assume?????).  it might open the door for more acts from that generation to be picked.

Though in reality - cant help feeling he might be a better headliner at this point in his career.   Maybe their are a few, let just few slightly older acts they might want to get in, before its too late. Prior to Robbie claiming the slot.

Yeah Robbie's taking it and no wouldn't bring a big enough crowd in. Big turnout last 10 minutes for burning down the house

Seeing as he's pulling in big crowds elsewhere, I disagree. Especially in that slot. If Cat Stevens can, he can.

Robbie will though and he'll be shite. Because he is shite.

I'm not sure where you mean by the crowds he's pulling these big slots at. He might well be shite but many will think the same like wise.

Yeah Cat Stevens was just a poor option.

David Byrne seems like an odd choice for the spot, but it'd be a great watch at home I'd imagine.

So would Robbie though, and I don't think it's out of the question. It was my first thought when I seen the date of the Lytham show. He could do more outdoor shows and still do it. Obviously he has to be up for it, but if he is, he HAS to be the first choice.

Coachella, Roskilde, Latitude...

Also Cat Stevens was a great choice. It was magical. Legend slot isn't about just pulling a massive crowd, if it was, they'd have Sheeran there. It's a tip of the hat to great music by a solo artist. Robbie isn't a great solo artist of great longevity, whereas he's an animated gurning karaoke punter. Not doubting he'll get a huge crowd, but Legend my arse.

We all know itll happen one of these years. Lets bite the bullet and get it over and done with. I'll be anywhere else doing anything else, it obviously isnt for me, but i'm sure people will have a good time and itll get tons of tv coverage. l;ets just accept the inevitable, cos then he wont be stinking up any future years.

I disagree with the "let's get it over with" philosophy almost entirely.

Yes, I agree it'll happen sometime. But for me that means he should be held off until the festival are running short of other options.

Let's be realistic - if say Cher is available next year, or Annie Lennox - then there's a good chance that'll be the only opportunity to get them and it'd be borderline criminal to instead book an act that they could have any time in the next 15 years.

Personally I'd be very surprised if the Festival do book RW in 2027.

Yeah this.  Feels very much jumping the gun to have Robbie as a "Legend".  I assume whoever above who suggested David Byrne wouldn't pull a crowd was just joking.  He's been playing theatres then arenas on his last 2 tours.

He also subbed a stage at Werchter that Kylie headlined.

Why would they have Sheeran by the eay when he would just headline?, the whole point of the Legend act essentially is getting an act that can still do big shows but is kinda dated and would look generally out of place or questioned as a headliner. I think the only exception to this rule was when Lionel Ritchie did it.

Nope. Mean every word of that.

In fairness, hes had 16 #1 albums or something across 30 years? Defo a solo artist of great longevity.

Anyway failing that, 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor are looking very likely.

Few warm up gigs potentially already booked in? Huge indicator imo. https://2brothersonthe4thfloor.nl/wordpress/tour/

100k at this. Peter Capaldi sucking down Fentanyl laced oysters from a Shewee in the front row.

He’s the biggest selling UK artist of all time and will draw the biggest day time crowd that field has ever seen.

    • https://x.com/amirtibon/status/2083054470871535853   Some thoughts on the Gaza agreement announced overnight, which despite my reservations and concerns, I hope will be implemented. 1. Donald Trump is trying to collect "wins" and "achievements" ahead of the midterm elections. His party is entering that election at a disadvantage, but because Democrats may choose weak and unpopular candidates in specific states, much like Republicans did in 2022, there's a reason for Trump to at least try achieving a surprising result like the one Biden secured four years ago.   2. The will to provide Trump such a "win" was an important motivation for all sides involved in this agreement: Hamas, Netanyahu, Qatar, Egypt, UAE and Turkey. All of them hope, each for their own reasons, that the transactional president will remember their role in the agreement and the positive media coverage it has generated and will continue to generate. You can like it or not, but that's the nature of diplomacy, especially in the Middle East, under Trump.   3. Netanyahu and his band of liars in the Israeli media (and the last few suckers in the American media still buying his spin) are already trying to oversell the agreement and present it in terms that contradict the Board of Peace statements and briefings. Of course, the October 7 Prime Minister can't just say the truth on this one, which goes something like: "I'm trying to stay on good terms with Trump ahead of an election here in Israel that will determine my personal fate and whether or not I go to jail in 2027."   4. For Hamas, the agreement is a way to buy time and survive, which is basically the organization's overarching goal since October 7. They lost most of their leadership and thousands of their fighters; they will also, I believe, give up some of their weapons to the new Gaza-based Palestinian government, which is a good thing. But at the bottom of all their decisions is a simple calculation: being able to say, "we committed the most deadly and humiliating attack against Israel since the start of the conflict, and survived as a movement and an organization to tell about it."   5. Hamas was able to say that yesterday, before the agreement was signed, and it can also say that today, after the conclusion of the negotiations. So in that regard, the agreement is preferable to the murky post-war reality that preceded it, in which Hamas was recruiting again thousands of young fighters, holding on to all its weapons, and controlling 99% of Gaza's population, making money off people buying fuel and cigarettes. Changing even a part of that terrible reality, by collecting some of the weapons and allowing progress on reconstruction under a non-Hamas government, is better. It means coming to terms with the fact that Israel under this government failed to dismantle Hamas and allowed its survival even before this agreement was signed.   6. Do I think the agreement will be fully implemented over the next 300 days, as I understand the timeline? I'm highly skeptical. But I'm also asking: what are the alternatives? Netanyahu, in his quest for political survival at all costs, ignored David Ben-Gurion's national security strategy of seeking short and decisive wars, which was based on Israel's unique internal and external challenges that make it dangerous for this country to have long wars of attrition. The result is an Israel that is hated, isolated and denounced around the world like never before, and is totally reliant on the support of one man (TRUMP) to avoid crushing international sanctions. Going to war in Gaza once again based on the same promise of "finishing Hamas," which this government failed to achieve after three long years, would have been suicidal unless Trump promised his full backing. And Trump, for good reasons, can't give such a commitment after his bitter experience with Netanyahu in Iran and Lebanon.   7. For me and my family, these are all very personal, not only political, questions. My six-year-old daughter will start school on the Gaza border in exactly one month, as we rebuild our life in the same home where Hamas tried to murder us on October 7. We've learned over the years to be highly skeptical of premature victory announcements and diplomatic celebrations. When these things collapse under the cynical realities of the conflict, most of those announcing them are not around to face the consequences. Still, I don't see a better alternative to the 20-Point Plan that Trump presented last year, at least not with Israel's current position of isolation and exhaustion under this government. So I have some hope that the agreement will succeed, even partially, and deliver a period of quiet. For us on the border, that would be significant after three years of war and trauma. And maybe in the long run, with different Israeli and Palestinian leadership, this will become a first step in a broader positive change for the region.
