And again, Israel is the equivalent of Ukraine here. They are the two defending countries here.

The Gaza War is being fought in Gaza, and the Ukraine war is being fought in Ukraine. You can't fight a defensive war in someone else's territory.

You can argue that Israel is justified in trying to take Gaza (which they clearly admit, they are trying to do), that it's necessary for their own security. We can disagree on that but that's valid. But that's not equivalent to Ukraine in any way.

Right but surely returning the full land between the river and the sea to being a Muslim nation of Palestine would imply genocide against the Jewish people?

Thats why a peaceful two state solution on 1967 borders with Palestinian recognition is the only answer which doesn’t require a bloodbath. But that definitely still includes a Jewish nation so would count as Zionist right?

Is it really genocide to expel invaders and colonisers of your country?

I understand that some time back, on Have I Got News For You, it was suggested that the Glastonbury Festival be nuked to get rid of the unwashed.

It's not so much what you say but rather who complains about it. I bet there were many pro-Israeli pressing the complaints buttons. Less so the Palestine supporters.

PS Pre-Palestine is NOT the same as pro-Hamas

Just as

Anti Israeli Government is not anti-semetic

Not reading all that.

Free Palestine🇵🇸

You don't seem to read a lot it turns out 😄

Your reply is the exact response of someone in an echo chamber.

I doubt you could accurately describe the meanings of apartheid or genocide or even point to actual cases of both in history.

While I’d have preferred that the Festival simply say “We’re not responsible for the opinions of performers”, I do think that they had little choice but to issue this statement. It’s a right old mess this situation but it’s not of the Festival’s making. This statement will have been intended to extinguish as much of the ire and criticism that will inevitably be directed at the Festival by its enemies. I think they made the right call.

Well no, you don't have to murder everyone who lives somewhere in order to own the land. Like, I'm in favour of a united Ireland, like many people are, and it'll probably happen in my lifetime. And I'm fairly confident it can be done without killing every Protestant currently living in Northern Ireland.

Dismissing people who oppose calls for violence are crybabies and/or the fash. Lol.

If the BNP walked out tomorrow in front of Parliament and chanted "Death, death, death to Palestine Action", you'd all call them racist and whatever other -ists you'd pluck from your hashtag bag.

And again, Israel is the equivalent of Ukraine here. They are the two defending countries here.

Glastonbury have made this mess themselves by siding with groups that would rather "up" Hamas and Hezbollah rather than with the only liberal democracy in the Middle East.

Ummmm Palestine action aren’t murdering children.

So now Emily has backtracked and it's hilarious how quickly that happened. So what happens now? She's set out Glastos policies yet ME said a few days ago if you don't like the festivals politics you can go somewhere else. Does that mean all the people who are defending BV are gonna leave the festival right now? Because according to ME a few days ago, you're not welcome anymore if you disagree.

Organiser Emily Eavis has issued a statement saying she’s "appalled" by the chants that took place on the West Holts Stage yesterday during Bob Vylan's set, and reminding people there is no place for "anti-semitism, hate speech or incitement to violence" at Glastonbury

Maybe in Ireland, yes. The Middle East is different. There are two neighbouring religions who want to exterminate one another.

Got no interest in debating an apologist for atrocities.

Probably beneficial to keep the discussion of this separate from those who want to discuss the rest of the performance outside of the 30 seconds being discussed here?

Perhaps a fair point. Seeing a new thread just effectively triggered my OCD about conflicting threads when I woke up this morning, I'm afraid.

The Eavis family should be fined for firstly booking them and secondly openly endorsing their stance.

Seen dozens of bands give Palestein a shout out, but now one has suggested Hamas release their hostages. Weird that.

Hahaha pathetic, absolutely pathetic

Do you think native Americans and aboriginals in Australia and Māoris in New Zealand should “expel” the white population?

Tell your Hamas buddies to stop using women and children as human shields then.

Ironically it was your side that invaded a music festival to murder and rape Isreali's. But you lot give them a free pass.

Ahhh classic.

Growing up in Northern Ireland I remember being used as a human shield by British soldiers. You probably wouldn't have a bad word to say about them though would you?

Of course not, because you do t actually care about "women and children", it's just a pathetic straw man excuse

Complete avoidance of the question clearly shows you have realised your point was a bit silly

I think comparing the ongoing ethnic cleansing of a state is a bit different to comparing those that happened centuries ago

Those that were alive and suffered the effects first hand absolutely had a right to fight back and demand that their territory be returned, just like those in Palestine currently suffering do. The native Americans were right to resist and fight back against the settlers invading their land.

Descendants 200 years later that have been born and grown up under a completely different situation not quite so much

It's easy to stay quiet when you've got no argument.

I'm not staying quiet either.  I'm dismissing you.  Big difference.

Those of us who oppose this don't (or at least shouldn't) meet your ilk with pieties and nuanced words.

    • I agree that we’ll never really know up until the concert happens (and even then we still may not know) but I think promoters are having to come up with new tactics to combat ‘blue dot fever’ (already hating that phrase!) and trying to imply that concerts are selling better than they actually are / available tickets are in short supply is definitely one of them.    To add though, it is quite common at the O2 Arena for the rear blocks to not go on sale (and then remain closed for the concert and covered over to hide the empty seats). And equally common for standing to sell out first, then side/lower tier seating next and rear/upper tier seating last.    Jungle’s two concerts at the O2 are a good comparison for this - for their 1st (announced) date, all blocks are on sale and seats in all sections remain unsold, whereas for their 2nd date, the rear blocks are greyed out (more so than for Muse) and equally lots of seats remain unsold in the blue blocks. Standing for both concerts are showing as sold out.
    • MGK can and should headline. I was at one of his shows earlier in the year as a very casual fan, and there were a lot of alt people there. The show was actually class and he completely won me over. Anyone who opposes him headlining is just a gatekeeper imo, we need to move with the times.
    • Ultimately Glasto is just part of the festival circuit, however special we may think it is. The vast majority of its headliners have done many others
    • From Magyar’s FB:   ”Our country's energy and water supply is stable. As of today, voluntary consumption reduction is no longer necessary. The turbine at the Paks power plant is generating stably. Thanks to precipitation in Austria, the water level of the Danube will temporarily rise by 20–30 centimeters. Thank you, Hungary, for the unprecedented national unity shown in recent days! We have much to be proud of, and much to carry forward into the period ahead.”
    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
