I always love the tales of people ditching the obvious to go and see something else and having a blast as a result.

Mine was leaving GnR to go and watch  Ivo Graham in the Cabaret Tent, laughed my arse off

That’s the one thing I always tell newbies if you ain’t feeling move somewhere else even if it means having an hour or so away from your mates, 9 times out of 10 you’ll end up chatting to some random anyway

I’m still kicking myself for getting that wrong twice in 2023. First I should have left Arctic Monkeys for Hot Chip as they were shite but we were with a load of mates. Then should have left Elton John as we were too far back  and not feeling it, should have made the effort to move to QOTSA or Phoenix.

same, I was all geared up for Bruce Springsteen, but two or three songs in , I just found it all very dull, not sure why. So I practically jogged over to Avalon and caught the last half or so of the Wonder Stuff, which was a marvelous sing-a-long 🙂

It's tricky to get the balance though.  Having done years where I'm stuck pretty firmly with mates and years when I've followed my own path, I've found you can definitely enjoy music more but sometimes at the cost of enjoying the experience less

Nile self-confirmed so I'm certainly not questioning that level of info but with him at Glastonbury on Sunday 29th, that's 5 days in a row in 4 different countries... not sure he'll have ever done that before. He's also playing 5th July (not quite in screenshot below) so he has only 2 days off out of 11 (25th June to 5th July). Some sets, Glastonbury included, may well only be an hour long but it's still quite surprising to see. If he hadn't self-confirmed, we'd probably have him ruled out with that schedule/amount of shows on consecutive days

Edit - They're also playing Love Supreme on Sunday 6th July so that's 2 days off out of 12!

That's an interesting one. You're right, we'd normally say that rules them out.

I wonder if he'd jumped the gun, maybe he was joking?

Even without Glastonbury it's a hefty schedule but Sunday 29th looks a natural day off including travel between mainland Europe and Ireland

Aye. Feels like plans may have changed. Or maybe he's just a machine!

But England > Europe > England > Ireland > England doesn't make a lot of sense.

Exactly the same, I went & watched Stereo MCs at The Glade, sacrilege really!

Would be a real shame I’m yet to see him … other things have always been happening instead

Same. Even though he's been everywhere for the last 10 years or so, I haven't seen him for whatever reason.

It's no doubt a groove but having seen him quite a few times now I have to say, he's getting very bad at talking about how great he is. He spends half his time on stage talking about all the grammys he's won/the big musicians he's friends with/etc., etc.

He's getting dangerously close to Russell Crowe terrority.

Saw him last year at Latitude and this was very much the case, however as they only had an hour they did manage to cram in a great set aside of that

    • good move - got to start saying No to these prices or nothing will change
    • Are there any shaded areas to take a break from the strong sun? Yes, i think there is some.    Theres loads of trees on the island where you can find shade… They have already erected a few domes in the Island but whether they will be cooler or green houses is as yet unknown 🙃…..weather forecast isn’t too hot currently….im more worried its gonna rain at this moment.
    • I Paid £30 for the lightning Seeds a year or so ago (who i beleive are the support act).  so. the value for money on this is incredible
    • Never too early to start discussing next year’s headliners right?   I’m not attending this year so thought I’d get the ball rolling as I saw Weezer have a new album out in August I’d expect them to do this or Slam Dunk next year. I mean they’re probably too big for this however I think they’re niche enough that they would maybe do it, it just depends on if the fee is a bit out of range for trees.    It’ll be the 20th anniversary next year so I’d expect some throwbacks and hopefully some big headliners/acts. James has already said he’s made a mad booking that you wouldn’t guess & I think he mentioned that he’s spent something like 80% of this years budget of next years top line already on last weeks 2 promoters 1 pod (Don’t quote me on that).    I reckon they’ll try for and get at least two (not all) of the following - Enter Shikari, AFI, Weezer, Sex Pistols Feat Frank Carter, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls
    • for some reason last night watched series one of Prey on Netflix.   if Legends was written by Timmy Mallet (see above) then Prey seems to have been made by Mr Blobby.   why are all these British crime dramas so sh*t?
