Conspiracy post on page 4. I remember other posts speak generally about terrorists/freedoms fighters and what is necessary to oppose oppression.

The two MPs that I’ve seen so far who are pushing for their removal (and criminal investigations) are David Taylor and Ben Obese-Jecty.

A simple google search shows Ben recently received donations from “Conservative Friends of Israel Ltd” while David has received donations from Gary Lubner, a pro-Israel South African businessman.

I'm guessing this is the post you're referring to as hinting at a Jewish conspiracy? If so then I don't see it, sorry. It refers to Israel, not Jews. And this comes back to what's a pretty significant sticking point in the entire situation, which is when criticism of Israel is automatically equated with anti-semitism. And suggestion of Israeli involvement means a Jewish conspiracy.

Initially it was so he couldn't be identified given the nature of Kneecap's music may not have been entirely appropriate for a teacher - now it's kind of stuck (metaphorically, I'm sure he can take it off should he so choose)

And then the schoold did an investigation and identiied it was him and he was made to 'walk the plank' to use his words

Sorry but no.

You don't get to pull this 'I remember' move when you're accusing people of antisemitism or approving of terrorism.

At least not without any pushback.

Please link or quote to the exact wording that you think is beyond the pale and we can discuss.

Damn right. I'm sick of being told that any criticism of Israel is actually a dog whistle for antisemitism, not _really_ criticism of Israel at all.

Yes, nowadays most arguments where people pull out the dogwhistle card are just an easy way to impute attitudes or beliefs you don't have on to you.

Yeah, was surprised when I saw their placing on the West Holts poster and would expect this controversy to only make them more popular. That said, I'm not sure where they'd fit.

Other is likely the easiest spot for them. They can still get into the crowd if they want from there. If they stay on WH they better like open the day so its not a mess for 3 hours. And with the post above from the booker they are probably working on making the move. I want Michael side stage wearing a mask.

I have got some opinions on the whole matter with Kneecap based on all the news articles, but something occurred to me... I haven't actually seen any video evidence of the things they supposedly said. Do they actually exist online anywhere? I've just spent an hour looking through YouTube and TikTok but I've seen nothing.

EDIT: Seen it now, thanks

There appears to have not been enough discussion on these 29 pages about how terrible Kneecap’s music is

That made me chuckle. I gave them a listen before all this kicked off and yeah, definitely not for me!

That's not the West Holts booker

It does work both ways, I've seen any criticism of Hamas or Hezbollah as being seen as pro genocide and Israel.

Saw them in Woodsies last year…watching thousands of polite English people wave their arms in the air and gently sing “you fenian c*nts” ranks among the most bizarre things I’ve witnessed at the festival 😁 …not my bag either, should have gone to see Johnny Flynn at the Park as I had originally planned, but everyone else in our group went to see them so I tagged along. As a former gaelscoil pupil, I’ve a lot of time for what they are doing to promote the Irish language though.

I'd say they have. Certainly refusing to condemn awful acts oif terrorism and hinting at jewish conspiracies to shut down kneecap.

I’m sorry, “Jewish conspiracies?” Wow. Is that where we are, that defending kneecap or criticising Israel makes you anti Jew? That’s an extremely serious thing to say so please link to the posts where people pointed to “Jewish conspiracies”

John is the area manager and apparently doesn't have any direct hand in bookings - that's done by Steve Symons.

Though obviously that's somewhat pedantry and doesn't undercut your point.

If that's your takeaway from the previous 20 pages of discussion that can't be helped.  But I'd suggest you've not followed the debate particularly well.

That's not my only takeaway. There was a lot of discussion about numerous topics. It's a very interesting read all around.

The 2nd response to my message explains what I mean. I'm saying that supporting Hamas is bad. I get a response that the festival massacre wasn't the start. Yes, I know it wasn't the start, far far from it - that doesn't mean people should make excuses for Hamas.

If you think that event was the start of this awful period, then I'm afraid you've got a lot of reading to do.

I'm sure others will have better links https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Israeli–Palestinian_conflict

I think you’re referring to my earlier posts.

If you flip to page 5, you’ll see I also mentioned a very constructive conversation I had with a Jewish guy at the Pyramid Stage last year. I described myself as pro-Palestine and anti-Israeli government, and I explicitly stated I’m not anti-Jewish.

I’ve spoken at length about how one person’s terrorist can be another’s freedom fighter. I don’t see the need to rehash everything here, so I’ll just say this: recognising that complexity doesn’t mean endorsing violence or taking sides.

And as for what you’ve called a “conspiracy” - you’re entitled to that view. My opinion, which is shared by many including the band themselves, is that following Coachella, there was a coordinated effort to cancel Kneecap on a global scale. The resurfacing of those videos feels like part of that push. If you think it was just coincidence, that’s your call, but I’ve already said my piece over the past 25 pages.

I get that this is a festival message board and so an attack on a festival is a particularly emotive subject, but placing October 7th in it's context is not making excuses for it
