It was a complete waste of time. Dragged everyone to the pyramid field for 8 mins of f**k all. Fireworks a lot better

Made the hill less crowded so theres that. Next year theyll probably add music and everyone who saw it this year will tell the rest it was shite so they wont bother

Lol that was utter shite. Like a sixth former's a level project. Uncreative tick box crap. A 3d pyramid, CND sign and glasto logo.

Worsr bits were the 2 fps butterflies, "love" and the shite hovering hummingbird.

It can't have been cheap, you would have thought they'd get someone on board with a modicum of artistic talent...

Needed audio for sure. Impressive but imagine it with booming sound accompanying it.

Agreed. I was thinking maybe something had gone wrong with the audio, but it seems like that's just how it was supposed to be. When they were encouraging people to watch from the Pyramid Field I thought they'd utilise the speakers.

Yea very underwhelming to say the least, and missed opportunities for such a huge crowd.

Obviously would have been better with some chilled audio. But also maybe some charity vid messages on the screens beforehand? Or maybe a nice montage of how different people from around the world make the pilgrimage to get here.

Or best of course, get everyone to bring massive beach balls and after a 10sec countdown, go mental for half an hour. Entertaining and free!

I was speaking to Colin Paterson the arts and entertainment correspondent for the BBC., who was in the crowd. He said that they were given a brief that there was supposed to be a musical accompaniment. They had a list of tracks too. But for some reason the sound didn’t happen. Weird

It was terrible, the drone show itself was pretty good, but without music it’s just wrong on all levels.

The video below is a smaller show at Alton Towers. The visuals are less impressive, and unless you’re an Alton Towers / theme park / rollercoaster fan you won’t get half the references… But just look at the difference music makes!!!

If a theme park understood that before doing their first drone show, why didn’t a ‘music’ festival?

I’m guessing they couldn’t get permission on their license for 5 minutes of recorded music as a one off on the Weds, but without music, just don’t do the show, it doesn’t work.

edit: hate this post, I sound so negative, and I do appreciate the effort, and don’t want to be a total downer, the visuals were good, the idea was good, it worked to spread people out… But please don’t do drone shows without music…

There’s a suggestion on another post it might not be the only time the drones will be used this weekend.  Coldplay light show?

The NOTAM says yesterday and today, nothing up for Coldplay yet that I can see.

I had assumed they’d put down today as a way to delay the show if it turned out to be too windy yesterday, but maybe they are doing something today too???

It does seem a bit odd to have it on Wednesday with no music, they only really work with music, so seems a bit of a wasted opportunity. I wonder if they will reappear in some form over the weekend during a headline set? It seems right up Coldplay's street to me?

I thought the whole site is covered by a notam for the duration that public is on site?

I was actually quite impressed. I was at Stone Circle so had a brilliant view for it whilst the people there read poems and did their thing. Then we had the fireworks and effigy straight after. Don’t think it would have been as exciting from the pyramid area but loved it from where I was

I was in the pyramid field and enjoyed it, bunch of grumpy gits 😂

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
