I guess the fact I don't listen to radio is why I probably fell through the cracks on that one.

I was aware it briefly featured as a discussion in US politics in the summer for some reason. I also think I likely would've heard it because I really like The Japanese House and they were a featured artist on one of the songs... admittedly one I haven't heard cos I'm just weird like that.

Or read newspapers? Or listen to podcasts?

Brat and Brat Summer was discussed everywhere!

Oh I was only out of the loop in so much as to how it was discussed on radio. I was aware of brat summer - NME seemed to be running features on it every day. It still pops up now - pretty sure the comedians on Gig Pigs chose it as a 2024 highlight.

I've never understood the point of comparing artists, it's either totally subjective or just based on numbers, which doesn't really mean much. If we go by stats, Olivia has more monthly listeners and even grammys and awards than Charli, so she'd be considered a bigger artist. But by that same logic, Charli would be a bigger artist than Neil Young, which makes it more obvious how pointless these comparisons are.

Sam Fender has pretty much shifted his London gig now, hasn't he? Was surprised how sluggish that was on launch.

Standing is sold out. Still a fair few in the upper tiers though. Certainly looks like more availability for him in LDN than at his 3 Newcastle shows.

Wonder if the new Manchester and Ireland shows will lead to a few Twickets listings.

The Charlie/Olivia chat has assumed me. Surely the only metric that Charlie is bigger is that she may be more recognisable to the general public and that’s a big maybe. No way she currently sells more.

Maybe if you showed a photo of each to 100 random people more might know Charlie from the Brat hype. But then if you added a photo of Barry from Eastenders, I bet a hell of a load more would recognise him. So by that metric Barrioke is the bigger star. Also, always rammed at his shows and always booked on to small a stage.

However, if it’s your truth that Charlie is bigger, good for you. Just ignore those silly facts about ticket sales etc.

Anyway, good to see both girls doing well.

Barry pulls in a bigger Pyramid crowd than both. Make it happen

Would be amusing if after roughly 120 straight days of debating about the size of Charli XCX as an artist, her streaming figures, her crowd size, her shoe size and her blood pressure mmol levels she ends up not even being on the line up

If either Charli or Olivia doesn’t play Glastonbury, who would be the biggest surprise, Discuss.

Rodrigo latest album was full of sex songs, are parents thus really buying tickets for their kids?

Hyper sexualised pop content is nothing new - Roan, Carpenter and Rodrigo are just the latest in a long lineage. Plenty of parents are either unaware, or don’t care.

Makes you think - who was the first music artist massive in the general public sphere that had notable sexual content in the songs?

I’m not pro-censor either way. Some people would have their kids listening to The Wombles until they’re 18.

Purple Rain pushed Tipper Gore over the edge because of Darling Nikki.
