I think  I enjoyed them twenty years ago, suffice to say I would likely have  overindulged beforehand

Overindulging can be a right pain. I don't remember any of Pearl Jam from Reading back in 2006. All I know when I watch it back on YouTube, I'm watching from the back eating a Chinese, totally spangled taking absolutely nothing in.

Aside from that, one of the main reasons that the festival is able to attract big name headliners for a fraction of their typical fee is usually because of the TV coverage - the act gets a free 2 hour commercial on the BBC, and some pretty good looking footage which goes worldwide (even SZA, with a disastrous crowd size, the coverage looks ok having been shot and edited carefully). Oasis would be no exception to this - if they do play in 2027 or some other future festival, you can bet they'll want as much coverage out of it as possible.

Do they need it?  Haven't played for 16 years, haven't put out any decent music for about 25-27 years and STILL the hype is incredible.  The fact that they've decided to do this now is almost certainly down to the fact that they've seen how much big acts are making on tours these days and seen the size of some of the "residencies" the likes of Swift etc. have been doing and want to compete.  30 years since DM gives them to excuse to both cash in and massage their huge egos.  Festival appearances - and G especially - doesn't fit with that.

If it is Marshall Mathers and Fred then they'll likely be going after some sort of rock act for the third slot.

Christ. It really does need to be Bruce.

O-Rod has guitars. Could be Fender if they’ve got Eminem in for the nostalgia crowd.

I doubt they will go fully boys only! 🙂

Alright so then it's gonna be

Fri: Rhianna

Sat: Eminem

Sun: Fred

Two spring chickens and... Fred

Two oldies acts and a dance act would definitely lead to some discussion 😂

Still waiting on any 2025 tour dates to even get rumoured.

The only rumours that have surfaced are........that she's heading back to the studio.

The main thing is she has 2 Manchester dates that have not been cancelled or rescheduled yet.

Eminem will not headline glastonbury. his new albums are awful. his set list will prob be bloated with alot of shite. god no.

Fri: Fred
Sat: O Rod / Gaga / Rhianna
Sun: Bruce / Blur / Sam Fender / Stevie Wonder

is my guess

There's more intel on Eminem than there is on someone like Blur.

I agree that he's basically the worst possible booking the festival could make.

But unfortunately, we can't rule him out quite that easily.

Blur will be back in another 7 or 8 years I have no doubt. But they won't be around 3 summers in a row.

As i said they called it - and this is the 2025 headliners thread!

I'm sure they will be back too

I was speaking to someone who is quite heavily involved in BST this weekend and she said the rumours in her circles are that Stevie Wonder is headlining. I mentioned about his ill health and how he was rumoured for 2024 and dropped out, and she said that that was all booked in and that he had to drop out, but is now recovering and should be ready for 2025. Take that for what it's worth - I can't see it personally but she seemed quite convinced.

    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
