A corner people get it, they just dont want to accept the lower fee.

Emily Eavis said in her Sidetracked interview that they're paying more than they've paid in the past. That'll no doubt include headliners, so the lower fee might not be as big an issue anymore. Either way artists who truly get it will play for the lower fee.

They don't really get it then? If they did they’d accept lower.

Not necessarily. You can still get what Glastonbury is about but what the money. Foos chased the money for years until they played, it doesn't mean they don't get what Glastonbury is about. Metallica have done the same but played.

Chappell Roan - or at least her management - feel like they have a set price now. R+L will have matched that and given the headliner prestige too.

Rodrigo's great first Glasto experience a very formative part of her UK success and her personal growth as a live artist. Think she feels a strong kinship/affinity.

As someone who only knew one song before going, I was absolutely blown away by her set. Stood near the mixing desk and it felt like everyone knew every word which helped with the atmosphere!

Had planned on doing half o-rod half prodigy but was having far too much fun to think about leaving. Great to see such energy and enthusiasm. Bringing Robert Smith on seemed like the perfect guest at that time too. All round 10/10 set from myself

Out of interest which rock do you live in to have only heard one song? Do you never turn the radio on or listen to the Top 40? Surely you've at least heard Driver's License, Good 4 U, traitor, deja vu and Vampire - they've been impossible to escape the past few years.

One where her music isn't aimed at me as the main demographic? I don't really listen to anything but artists on my Spotify and good 4 u was the only one I really knew or heard before (which is a fantastic song). I am aware of the names of her other songs but I couldn't hum the tune of any of them.

Missed OR for watching the Prodigy. But just caught up on TV, no doubt this was someone smashing a headline set no doubt about it

I tried when she was first announced but couldn't get in to her stuff. Heard a few from Sunday though and she sounded great. No regrets, no way I was missing The Prodigy (I was righting a 30 year wrong) but I think I would have been perfectly happy at the Pyramid.

In my case, pretty much no.

I thought she was fantastic and was delighted when Bob came out, even if all the youngsters around us didn't seem to recognise him.

Quick question - does anyone have a downloaded copy of her set from the Other Stage a few years ago? My daughter features prominently in some of the crowd shots so would love to have a copy if someone can share...

An unnecessary dig, this. Plenty of people don’t listen to radio.

You know the foos played in 98, is that what you are referring to chasing the money

So they played one in 1998 before they were headliners anywhere?, not sure that is valid to any point. I'm just saying you can get Glastonbury and know what it's about even but choose not to play it.

I’m watching the rest of her set, from Robert Smith onwards, and she just gets it, doesn’t she? In every possible way.

Louis said she had been preparing and planning their for months on his Insta.

She also said in a Vogue interview in 2023 that Glasto (22) was her favourite ever show, at the time.

This was clearly the absolute top of her list to play and I expect some of the other festivals this year were really to prepare for Sunday and justify the costs.

The cost of the show itself?  Cos I thought it was actually pretty bare bones.  Didn't affect the quality of the performance one jot, but it was mostly just a small band rattling out good tunes for 90 minutes.  For a 'pop' show it was closer to Neil Young than The 1975.

The costs of bringing the band over, rehearsals, justifying it financially. Which is why a lot of headliners tag on BST.

She does seem to be having fun playing festivals in general though, as up to now it's almost entirely been playing gigs to big fans that have sold out in minutes.

But I'm pretty sure this was the big one of the entire tour for her.

Now listened to the whole thing.

Blimey.

Really bloody good

Her and Robert Smith sound great together.
