Also realistically WH is 3rd biggest stage but if they're putting on "world music" they will not attract the 3rd biggest crowd. Think if festival wants to continue to let in the amount of people they did last year they need to be pragmatic about stage allocation.

Totally agree. The best thing WH ever did was moving away from "world music", which can go to Acoustic/Avalon/maybe Park mid afternoon or even the Pyramid late morning/early afternoon, after all the picnic blanket posse don't seem to care what's on.

It never was and never has been just world music. It's on there but alongside reggae, jazz, funk and other general psychedelic weirdness.  In the Jazzworld days it was still hosting acts like Amy Winehouse.

I remember Roni Size headlining when it was Jazzworld stage.

It's fine to do both provided that it doesn't cause bigger acts to move to smaller stages and cause overcrowding.

As long as the "world music" acts are on WH early, no later than about 5pm.

WH has got it more or less spot on with their headliners in recent years.

Angelique Kidjo subbed last year and Seun Kuti was also early evening. Seemed to work out OK.

world music is such a cringe phrase. It sounds like the music comes from a different world than this one

While I dont disagree, I think most people understand that and just use it as convenient shorthand.

TBF the Pyramid has put on acts that firmly fall in the world music category as well. As long as at any given time the crowds are distributed then it's usually ok.

It's not my favourite phrase but it's the quickest way to type it with everyone roughly knowing what you're talking about.

Judging by this thread recently I reckon Cineramageddon and Pilton Palais should show round the clock episodes of the Simpsons. 😉😊. Though even that would start a which episode is best fierce debate!

I like this idea.

They could put S1 Episode 1 (Simpsons Roasting On An Open Fire) on at precisely 08.00 on Wednesday morning when the gates open and end five days later at 08.00 on Monday morning.

Allowing 23 minutes per episode (they're all 22 but give a minute leeway to allow for any technical glitches) you could show 313 episodes. Meaning that the festival would end very cleanly at the end of Series 14.

Make it happen Eavis!!

    • Iran are winning. If US aren't going to do the full invasion thing, then they may as well admit defeat and do what is needed to get the strait opened. Iran obviously have decided they can take any pain and stick it out as they have all the cards with this Hormuz thing. But obviously Trump can't admit defeat, and Israel just want this to keep going...and maybe it will carry on like this till after elections in both US and Israel towards the end of this year. God knows how the global economy will be by then.
    • All kicking off in N Ireland, all aided and abetted on videos that get circulated on social media and Elon Musk and Tommy Robinson telling people to take to the streets. Social media needs regulating same as publishers, if they have algorithms that push whatever to people then they are effectively publishers anyway. The problem is just going to get worse and worse.
    • A lot of acts put him up on their Insta seems to have touched a lot of hearts across the industry, didnt know too much about him but read a bit now seems like great guy
