Headliners 2023

i was told and i put it in thread after 2022 festival by the pr team of one of the artists playing the pyramid in 2022, that 1975 wear due to headline this year. was called out on it. but can only pass on the info i had at the time. haven't spoke to the source in question since so don't know what their thoughts are on the info.

These forums typically detest the 1975, though I agree I'd be there! 

Edit: Yes I know Matty Healy is an arrogant tool, but can't tell me they don't have atleast 5 bangers.

Exactly - both are hated on quite a bit, but they are two of my favourites live that know how to put on a hell of a show. Non-stop bangers all the way

Feels weird to me that they'd have 2 out of 3 of Reading's (real) headliners from last year, with AM and 1975

Good point although i think who really cares at the same time. If its them two and someone impressive like Elton nobody will bat an eyelip beyond this forum (maybe because they are distracted by it being 3 white men)

Yeah I do agree. Very much a nitpick for the sort of person who uses a festival forum, rather than anything the general punter cares about

Yeah - agreed.  That's why I don't see them both headlining, but at the same time it would seem odd them not being there at all.  Will just have to wait and see what happens

Re the 1975 - They were intended to headline R+L 2023 before RATM pull out. Based on that I can only see the 1975 getting the call up to headline through a cancellation since last August.

Which is surely unlikely

I would absolutely love it to be The 1975 but I just can’t see it. AM seem pretty nailed on and I don’t know why but I don’t think they’d book both. 
I’m sure wouldn’t accept Pyramid sub or Other headliners so I’m not sure where they can play other than headlining Pyramid. I suspect they might end up being one of those acts where the timing never seems to work.

I can’t speak for them personally and obviously don’t know their thought process on it… but I don’t really understand the logic of being a band of that status and refusing to play Glastonbury just because you’re not headlining the Pyramid. They’re a big band yes, but they’re not absolutely huge. Don’t see why they wouldn’t take Other headliner if they were offered it - it’s still a big slot - just my 2 cents!

But maybe I’m just being overly positive about it because I’d absolutely love for them to be there

Didn't The 1975 say they were bigger than AM at some stage? Can't imagine them taking an Other stage headline whilst AM headline the Pyramid.
