I managed to have a listen with it cranked up in the car driving home, lucky to have good quality speakers in there, and yeah I’m really in to it. Excellent record. Not at all what i expected but it’s a doozy. Up to the very high standard she’s set herself and that’s all you can ask really.

Some cracking lyrics on this

“It’s me, hi, I’m the problem it’s me”

“Fucking politics and gender roles and your not sure and I don’t know”

“Lately I’ve been dressing for revenge”

“When I meet the band they ask do you have a man? “

“I thought the plane was going down, had you turn it right around”

“Karma is my boyfriend. Karma is a god. Karma is the breeze in my hair on the weekend. Karma is a relaxing thought, but for you it’s not.”

“I wrote a poem. You say what a mind!”

“No one wanted to play with me as a little kid. So I have been scheming like a criminal ever since.”

Just finished my 3rd full listen

Starts well - but dare I say it - a bit dull?

it’s good, but not her best by any stretch

Where are the bangers, the big hooks?

Fantastic production - same as the new 1975 one - Antonoff strikes again on that aspect.

Favourites - Anti-Hero, Maroon, Bejeweled

At the moment I’m giving it 6.5 / 10

It’s basically Rep / 1989 lite - but not as good as either.

interesting to see how it fares after more listens

Lana collab and Karma are the only real stinkers. 7/10 overall but I’m sure it’ll grow on me, her albums always do.

Karma is one of the standouts for me!

Gotta agree that some of the lyrics are cringe. Some of the beats are great but some of the songs are very much skippable, vigilante shit is one I'm just not a fan of. Concerned about her putting 8-9 songs off the album on the tour setlist as I'll probably tune out unless the album becomes a grower.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
