Buzzzzzzing for the new album.

Been trying to find details on line for live coverage of the Reading gig. Assuming it'll be on iPlayer, but nothing on BBC3. Hoping to God it's the full live show and not just highlights.

Full live stream of Reading all day on iPlayer.

AM are on at 9.50pm on Saturday. Coverage ends at 11.30pm.

Perhaps I'm in the minority?

AM is by far the better of the two in my opinion.

I like both depending on my mood / time of day - AM is a slightly pissed 9 pm singalong, TBHC is a late night, malt whisky nightcap album.

They're two entirely different albums. It's what makes them one of the greatest bands ever, for me. Being able to change styles and with such balls, and still being a success. AM is stronger overall in terms of how many high quality tracks there are, but there is some incredible stuff on Tranq. Purely depends on the mood.

Not trying to argue here but do you not enjoy when artists mix up their sound at bit and do something completely different? Like think of the sounds the Beatles started off with and how different the sounds of Revolution, Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's are. Even the Beach Boys run from Pet Sounds in 66 to Holland in 77 is so different from their early sound (when all songs were literally about surfing and girls) and they're much better.

I do like it when artists mix their sound up, but let’s be honest - TBH&C is a concept/experimental album stirred up by Alex. Given that it was sandwiched between AM from 2013 and The Car in 2022 - that’s a 9 year gap where it was their only output as a band.

As I said I personally like the album, but very little seemed to have come from the band in creating the record, or playing it live and the ‘core’ of them seemed so stripped right back.
I also thought an album of 11 tracks with that sound was a bit much - they should have thrown the odd ‘banger’ in there to split it up imo.

I think the new album will be closest to the ‘Suck It And See’ sound .. which would suit me just fine.

Eh, I know we’ve only heard that one live clip, but I’m getting big ‘Tranquility Base with added funky guitars’ vibes from it, which is pretty much how Helders described it in that interview a while back. Maybe they’ll beef up the sound a little and there’ll be some more upbeat stuff on there, but I don’t think we’ll be getting too many sing along anthems or soaring choruses or anything, and I anticipate a lot of their older fans wanting AM2 being pissed off once more.

I guess the back end of SIAS (Reckless Serenade to That’s Where You’re Wrong) isn’t too far from being compared to a beefed up TBH&C? There are no real singalongs or choruses in that run. But yeah agree, it’s going to be miles from an AM sound.

I prefer AM by a distance, though I still like TBHC and enjoyed the change of pace. Ready for something a tad more energetic now, but seems I may be disappointed!
