Do you know if those stadium dates are being announced today along with the album?

Kind of thing that can be expected this time next week after R&L i think. I know people did say today but now that thats seemingly off, next week is my bet!

hope theres some parks 🤞

I do like it when artists mix their sound up, but let’s be honest - TBH&C is a concept/experimental album stirred up by Alex...

As I said I personally like the album, but very little seemed to have come from the band in creating the record, or playing it live and the ‘core’ of them seemed so stripped right back.

Do you know them personally or something? Of course it was stirred up by Turner. He's the songwriter.

They talked about it being a solo Turner album and the band were way less involved than before in the music creation. Was essentially a turner solo project more so than any of the other albums

Serious rumours in Bristol of them playing Ashton Gate next year, which would be absolutely delightful!

They have to confident this album is going to smash if they're booking stadia off the back of it.

They could played stadiums on AM or TBHC tour, it seems like more a conscious choice not to till now not cause they worried about them selling. They did 4 nights at the london 02 last tour which is easily enough for a stadium.

Yeah I suppose so.

Why now with stadiums? Something to tick off before they call it a day?!

Or am I reading into it too much?

You’re not wrong. It’s quite bizarre really. Maybe they really really really want a cash injection. Do gigs and do the ones that bring in the most dosh.

Could be logistics driving it, there may still be a ‘covid backlog’ with booking suitable dates at the arenas? Especially as they would need multiple dates in each city due to the demand.

They did a stadium show in Mexico City on the TBHC tour and seemed to have a good time doing it. Maybe that's made them rethink their attitude to not doing them.

The fan numbers have certainly endured given they sold a stadium tour sized amount of tickets for their 2018 arena run.

I think it will become clear when they give interviews after announcing it. I highly highly doubt they're calling it a day though.

I think stadiums probably only entered the equation on their last 2 tours. AM maybe they never expected to do that well and the tour had already gone on long enough. Can totally get why they avoided stadiums on the last tour too due to the album.

Had hoped they'd go down a bit in venue size tbh (mainly because arena shows are terrible). Who am I kidding, a pipe dream I know. Seems like their popularity never wanes, they're one of those bands who could go away for years and still come back where they left off, if not bigger. Maybe stadium shows might be better than an echoing arena. Just find the size of them so soulless though. The way ticket prices are going for big shows I may even be priced out.

I know they did the Old Trafford stadium shows in 2007 but I heard it was a pretty chaotic experience. Maybe that turned them off it for a little while until AM turbocharged their popularity.

I remember the Saturday being carnage down the front, fights everywhere. But that's the sort of crowd they had. They always used to say they'd hate to do arenas because they prefer the intimacy of small venues, but obviously they outgrew them. Probs a bit of that in their reluctance to do stadiums, rather than letting a few idiots ruin it. Those types stand towards the back at AM gigs these days!
