Slugworth
Friend of the family is playing two DJ sets. Friday and Sunday. They’re not a big name but it is their profession. The DJ has a manager. The manager has been informed that they have a ticket but the DJ hasn’t. That can’t be right surely? How would that even work? They would have to be escorted off site after their set, right? I know there’s a big chunk of acts that wouldn’t get paid money but I thought they were given a ticket as a reward. Maybe even a +1. Has anyone ever played the festival before, or know anyone that has? What’s the deal?
Madyaker
Manager shafting your mate? He was offered one hospitality ticket and he wants it?
Johnnyseven
I played 5 sets over the 2019 festival but had to have bought my own ticket. Two were on proper stages too, Bimble Inn and Avalon Cafe.
concerned
What size venue/stage are we talking? One of my brother's mates has been booked to play a set in silver hayes, he got a ticket + 2 complimentary ones to take some friends. One of his other mates is playing a set in Shangri-la and got 5 complimentary tickets. Edited June 9, 2022 by concerned
chazwwe
There's a fair few of the smaller stages where they only get a handful of tickets and then ask friends if they're going and if they wanna play a 'fill' set. The manager is shafting your mate.

Ha, the manager is her (the DJs) long term partner. Been together years.

Alvoram
Only one solution really, Manager will have to play the set. 🤷🏻♂️

Sounds like you were already a ticket holder, is that right?

But apparently the manager has been jumping through hoops all day trying to sort it out 😂

Wilfko
How ridiculous of the manager, the ticket has to go to the performer surely? Be a good manager for good sake.

You're either big enough to get a free ticket or you buy a ticket and then arrange some gigs with the stages that don't get ticket allocation for all the acts they put on. august1
surely the first question any stage would ask if you have a ticket already to play for them? why would they sort a manager and not an artist, seems like weird communication
Alvoram
I'm wondering if the original conversation went something like this: Booker: Would x like to play x and x stage? Manager: Yes, Sure Booker: Perfect, how many tickets will be needed? Manager: (Wrongly assuming that it goes without saying the act would gain entry) Just the one for me please. Booker: Perfect! Scrump
How would the dj get into the festival in first place? What security guard is gonna believe that story!? Edited June 10, 2022 by Scrump

That's what I was thinking. If they get in through artist accreditation then they won't be evicted after their set.
moogster
A volunteer posted here how he once turned Sophie Ellis Bextor away because she didn't have her ticket. Not the most famous of artists but still. I'd say unless you are Diana Ross, you won't get in without a wrist band and ticket.
irnkrtn
I once watched someone turn Tony Wilson away from his music industry festival, In The City, cause he didn't have his pass on. Every staffer around him was mortified, as was the kid when he realised. Tony Wilson thought it was brilliant and congratulated the lad for doing his job properly, took his pass out his pocket and put it on 🤣

Still won't put one on though, just pulls out his AAA laminate.
