1975 could easily be WG Thurs or BBC Intro, for example, if they're there at all.

1975 could easily be WG Thurs or BBC Intro, for example, if they're there at all.

1975 in WG a few years back was the worst set I’ve seen at Glasto.

Got a message from a mate that bloc party are playing - simply that’s the source. A mate. Nothing I’m hanging too much on.

I wonder if they are a BBC introducing TBA or Williams Green?

I'm a bit more skeptical of the JP one being someone quite that big, just because it doesn't really clash with anything. Putting someone headliner sized for other festivals when there's nothing to split the crowd (they headlined Reading the last time it had just three headliners, when they last toured) just feels a bit too much really 

Someone like Bloc Party feels about right actually for that slot

Announcing a tour on the 20th

Have a good relationship with the fest, didn't they say they would do it for free at some point

Just finished a headline set at Download so should have enough to string together a short setlist

 

So gut feel/wish list more than anything

You are aware The Killers did that secret slot in JP in 2017 and then went on to headline in 2019?

Yeah but at the same time as the Legend slot - there was a huge opportunity for splitting the crowd - even indie fans might miss that for the legend slot. If you put a big band on this year vs Herbie Hancock and Lianne La Havas there's not a whole lot of competition

Saw bloc party last week,  should have hung around afterwards and asked them. Definately seems plausible in terms of size and what they are doing at the moment.
