There is a lot to be said for the band taking the initiative with chattering w*nkers if the opportunity permits.

Several years ago, I was at The Academy in Manchester to see Richard Hawley.  I think it is fair to say that Richard is a bit of a crooner / legend and doesn't suffer fools.  His tunes need the crowd to listen. End of.

About three songs in, he stopped a few bars in to the tune and said to one particularly loud w*nker (near the front an all for some unfathomable reason) "hey mate.... yep you... you have been chatting since we started (takes a twenty quid note out of his pocket and offers it to the w*nker)... do me, the band and the rest of the crowd a favour and take this money that you spent on the ticket and fuck off to the pub where you can chat as much and as loudly as you like"

Crowd roared, point made and the chattering ceased.  It was so mint

That's brilliant! I love Richard Hawley. Seen John Bramwell have a go at talkers a few times too.

Well one is in Aus I think but I ain't sure about the other one. Are you Actually trying to berate them for being on forum that you are also on?

Think you need to go to bed yourself and get out of it the other side in the morning.

Which I mean in the nicest possible way

No, I think you've got the wrong end of the stick. I'd read the posts back if I were you. Or, probably even better, just ignore the whole thing.

I can't remember which account asked what question. But if it's any comfort, I'll only cast judgment on the real people at the festival. What time zone are you in, by the way? Because if you're both going to bed, it must be quite an niche timezone as far as Glasto is concerned. Even more niche for being at Glasto and happening to be on these forums...but here we are...👍

You’re off your head bro.

Back OT - given the album a few listens now and think it's good, but not great.  That said, has some of the best lyrics I've heard in a while.  Particular favourite: -

"I don't need no dating app to tell me if I look like crap.  To tell me if I'm thin or fat. To tell me, should I shave my rat."

Poetry for the modern age.

Yeah that whole verse is probably my favourite if there’s.

I do feel similarly about the album, I think 5/6 singles are absolutely top tier indie rock, and then the rest of the album is pretty boring.

Glad I’m seeing them in July as hopefully their live act will be better post-festival season.

Have to be honest I love the album. A lot more than I was expecting to.

Pretty much summed up the live experience too.

It's very clearly not an alt account. I'll vouch for Kali.

I'm still a little in the dark as to how two long established posters on here ended up being accused of being the same person.

We thought both the same poster was acting the wally, an opinion that of course couldn’t be held by two different people.

People calling out Wet Leg for a bit of innuendo, like that hasn't been a staple of popular music since, I dunno, oh yeah, hang on, AS LONG AS IT'S FUCKING EXISTED.

Blues songs are absolutely chockful of smutty innuendo, put some sugar in my bowl, grind my coffee etc etc,  Led Zeppelin, in one of their more execrable moments (in a whole career of them) singing about 'squeeze my lemon till the juice runs down my leg, baby', Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer where his 'Big Dipper' will 'open up your fruit cage where the fruit is as sweet as can be'.

But we can't have young girls doing it with a smile on their face, taking the piss. No, no, no, not proper music. Hurumph, harumph. Bollocks to that, says I.

To further back up your point, the Zeppelin lyric is actually Robert Johnson. From 1937!

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
