Lots of outrage on FB over the decision to curb the family orientated areas. Not sure how they will police a curfew on children after 7!

People like to get outraged by things that haven't been properly announced yet. There will be areas focused on children, and there has always been a 7pm curfew for children in the bowl.

It doesn't impact me, it's not a festival I would have taken my kid to, but I do understand the frustration of some of those families that rolled their tickets over. As you say, we'll see what they come up with. It will be the highlight of my year again, as it has been each year I've attended.

I did enjoy chilling out at Whistler's Green, sad to see it go but excited by what might replace it.

They had announced it for last years so kind of knew it was coming.  Kidztown was ace though so it's shame not to have it.  Even though I've never taken my kids,  I was considering it as the circus and entertainment will be more up their street than my music.  Will be easier without them I guess.

I recall seeing some youngsters being escorted out the bowl as I was on my way up once.  They went straight back down at the same spot 5 mins later 🤣

Be interesting to see if they stick with the no cash & no meat vendors rule.  That will cash more of a back lash I'd guess.

I'm all up for new an improved but what's the Logic on the smaller site, non on use of the bowl (I do like a sitdown and still be able to see), removals of kiztown/whistlers.  Surely if you are sold out you've got 10 months to still sell tickets.

Have they officially announced no meat vendors? I know they were targeting 50% vegi options.

They announced it for the aborted Boom Village, with the intention of seeing whether it'd work for Boomtown proper.

new survey, this sounds fantastic should it go ahead:

Good on the one hand to save carrying it but would probably be to make it easier to stop you bringing any extra booze at all. Especially if they extend that to bringing “mixers” under the pretence of stopping single use plastic on site.

I’ve never had a problem bringing 3 crates and a bottle of spirits in with me previously.

Yeah I wouldn't be a fan of that, it just means they can confiscate any and all alcohol or suspected alcohol they find and I've got a sophisticated system for sneaking in spirits.😂

Anyone know who’s expected to be here then? Thought i’d revive the topic and say that Chemical Brothers could be one of the headliners given their dates?

I always thought they may have got RATM, which was where the new music policy came from as they couldn't announce it in advance but their dates don't work this year.

With the new layout it sounds like there won't be one "main stage", so wonder if they'll have someone as big as chem Bros.

I don't know if they could afford Rage?

I could see IDLES getting a prominent slot somewhere... a lot depends on how they set up this year!

Me thinking was it might have been a discount big they didn't have to announce a name. Although it sounds like the new layout doesn't lend it self to a huge name on any one of the stages.

I think it's a combination of the fact that when some of them were there as prophets of rage they loved the festival, the fact they are a dream booking for Boomtown and a lot of wishful thinking that was fueling this rumour. I don't think it's ever really been a starter.

Two district announcements a week from 21st feb, which seems like a lot? How many are they going to have?

Also a music q+a on Instagram on the 16th.

Welcoming everyone into the city and providing the starting point for a weekend of exploration is Grand Central Plaza. Standing proud in the middle of the city, this mighty beaming tower is a huge communal meeting point and place of connection and acts as a huge crossroads into the spiderweb of six themed district areas

https://www.boomtownfair.co.uk/experience/explore/the-city/

For two a week, I wonder if they'll break down the districts and stages further?

E.g.

Announcement 1 - This is Old Town...

Announcement 2 - These are the smaller parts of Old Town...

That would make sense, and take them through to early April.

Do we reckon Pendulum or Chase & Status might be a shout for this? both back around this summer doing full live sets. Either of those or chems would be brill for me

It's so hard to tell with the music policy.

Boardmasters is the same weekend, so could not having to announce any acts beforehand free up some of them to play?

Idles probably the only possibility?

I'd be surprised if Damien Marley wasn't at Boomtown to be honest - wasn't he lined up for the last one?

IDLES will play too I think, I remember them playing in 2017 at like 1am(ish).

Few names in smaller font I can see being at Boomtown too.

    • Tbf that happened to me in 2022 so not a one off. 40 euros to drive down 3 streets. I'd have done a runner but the reason for getting the taxi in the first place is cos I couldn't walk no more.
