I'm not sure you can police people hugging. In fact the suggestion of even trying to is ridiculous.... we are slipping down a very slippy slope with all this.

Yeah you are right and it’s also because not many have had their 2nd doses yet so they want to ensure as much protection with the 2nd doses as possible before they change the messaging on that. In theory all those restrictions will end on June 21st if all goes to plan which would be great.

I hope you haven’t had any long lasting effect from the virus!

Yes. t-cells are the most important thing... anti bodies are an after the fact thing. Its the t-cells/b-cells that make the antibodies.

So the real test is what cell response people who have previously had the virus or vaccine get to fresh virus.

Yeah I'm not expecting Whitty to say 'if you've had two doses, do what you want'. I'm more talking about what average joes should be doing and using a bit of common sense. As I say, time is precious for some oldies and they should assess their own risk after two doses.

Which is exactly how my Parents see it. They’ve seen their Grandchildren once in the last 15 months, which in the case of the youngest child is over a third of his life. They’re nearly 70 and  reaching the point where they might not have long left at all. They’ve been super cautious and followed all the rules but they’re getting bored of the lectures, and they will be going straight in for a hug if we manage to see them in May.

Yep exactly, and it's how most normal people will see it. If covid is here forever there will always be some sort of risk, that risk is not going to get much lower than when there is low cases and people are vaccinated.

my mum is 90...and has had one jab, should get 2nd in April sometime. I would like to see her and so would my kid, we haven't seen her since late 2019, but she lives down south the poor old thing, so would mean travelling down and staying at hers. So, won't be seeing her Easter, but will be down there mid/late May I reckon. I might even hug her.

My Mum was a bit disillusioned by Johnson yesterday. She’s not by any means an anti-Vaxxer but was wondering if the Vaccines ‘didn’t work as well as they* keep telling us’

There's going to be a HUGE problem when people start dying from it in autumn. The country won't cope. They've been told its a magic cure and will bring their "freedom".

That’s a long time. My kids haven’t seen my Wife’s parents since Christmas 19. Everyone has to start making their own assessments because they have to balance everything else against Covid, and having had two jabs must weigh into that in a very positive, confidence-building way.

I haven't seen my parents since 9th August last year They've had their first shots and are coming up to visit me (and stay in an airbnb...) on 13th April. We'll only be doing outdoor stuff but I highly highly doubt that I'm not going to hug them.
