Went out for a stroll at lunchtime in east London. A popular park there.

Social distancing is literally over lol. Sunny weather and lots of groups gathering.

I think as the weather gets better they may move some of the requirements on outdoor mixing forward, as people are pretty much doing it anyway.

I think they should maybe relax restrictions on people meeting outside to reduce amount of people meeting inside.

i think its slowly breaking down rather than collapsing completely at present ... some people will be more secure seeing their folks now as I will be in 3 weeks ...

It could be, but where I am there’s no indications of people breaking the rules en masse. You can see your parents and it wouldn’t be breaking the rules.

I went out for my walk today and there are no large groups about. It’s all couples of people on their own. Where I am it seems people are still following the rules really well.

I think thats the case generally. The only issues im aware of is groups of kids hanging around the streets and people having small gatherings on weekends. They seem few and far between though.

yeah thats true .... distancing has absolutely gone to shit mind very few people observing that in work now ...customers and colleagues are as bad as each other now  😞 , not sure if thats because of the mask thing giving false confidence though

I can imagine in your work it must be very difficult at times. Maybe it’s people letting their guards down as it’s become too normal now if that makes sense?

I wish people were given proximity sensors like those in use in the NFL ... but  numbers still dropping and locally its down to 72 per 100,000 .... so its getting there despite this ...

Out of curiosity I had a look on the Nottingham system (which as people have said is outside of the NHS).  At 9pm last night, I could have booked an 0820 appoitment for today.  There were dozens of free slots in the first location on the booking website for this morning, and this at 9pm the night before.

As of this post, there are 23 slots free in the first location along, this afternoon.  Next site along, 25.  It is 1515, and that is almost 50 free slots between two places.

I am not sure what happens when you try to book them, but it does suggest that a lot of over 65 Nottingham residents are not taking up the offer to get vacinated.

Think it's more that most of Group 5 (over 65s) are already done - Group 6 (Clinical Vulnerable) is on a different link and has much less availability.

that Group 5 was tiny ... 1.3 million off the top of my head so it makes sense that one got smashed quickly

I had to do a double take when on my lunch break earlier. Strolled past the local pharmacy and they had a hand drawn sign up in the window advertising that any over 65's could just walk in and be vaccinated with no prior appointment.

Felt weird to see that and think back to where we were 4 months ago or so!

I had to go into my office yesterday (Oxford) and when walking back through the city centre to get a bus home it just felt like  pre-covid was with the exception of people wearing masks.

Yeah same here - while the roads are certainly busier than they should be, they are nowhere near as busy as in regular times either. I don't think compliance is at 96% but nor is it at 10%. It's somewhere in the middle.

Yeah, but bear in mind most of the shops will be closed, cafes won't be able to seat people, so if it only felt as busy as pre-COVID it was actually much, much quieter, as it didn't have the 1000s of people in shops, cafes and restaurants at any one time.

students there?

Hardly any at all, I work at the university and the only ones at my college are ones that haven't gone home which is mostly students from Asia.

In the city centre its just people milling around, and loads of Deliveroo drivers picking up orders. My point was more that social distancing has gone out of the window and when I drove in during half term a couple of weeks ago there were loads of kids out skakeboarding.

Thing is Spaffer is telling people to stay at home, but then virtually every shop is doing some sort of click and collect!

I've just been out for my daily walk near my house and there's cars flying about every two seconds.

A lot of people have given up with the whole staying in thing.

Click and collect is allowed from shops.

So one of the issues might be that there are problems with the booking system ... that has been reported by the admin on the vaccination centre chat for the mass vaccination centres locally ... they had already cut volunteer shifts down ... but last night added to that further

On the supply issue with vaccines, just my experience, but I'm a newly approved volunteer and can't find a shift on the SJA app for love nor money. I know others have said similar. So would support the idea that there is a bit of a lull in the programme currently.

Having said that the app is horrendous so it might be me!

At the centre I'm volunteering at (actually, I think most of the region ) they cut down the the volunteer shifts after the first week or so. I got sent home from my first shift cos I wasn't needed. Think it was just a case of working out what they needed and how the centres were going to run. Having said that. I do feel like we could get more people through. there were definite lulls during the shift I worked.

In terms of not getting shifts, I think it is literally just a case of so many volunteers. The next batch of shifts (first 2 weeks in March) went online yesterday morning and all but 1 shift was taken by yesterday evening. Similar at other sites too, although some of the bigger ones still have shifts available, especially the outside roles. I might have to cancel mine though. Started with symptoms yesterday and if my test is positive then I'll still be isolating by the date I booked

If you think about it, the presence of all those Deliveroo drives is because so many people are following the rules and staying in!
