And you have no problem with the Prime Minister having just announced they will "vaccinate 13 million people" by 15 March? You've missed the whole point I was making.

Words matter. With targets even more so...

Words indeed matter and the fact they are rowing back on the target shows how slime they are. If they had said at the beginning they would be offering vaccinations by the 15th Feb then it would be fair but they had to set the headlining grabbing target first of all.

Sorry slightly unrelated to the current convo but my sister works in a major hospital in a city. Most of the staff had their second Pfizer jab done yesterday and a large majority have gone off sick today with fever/aches& pains/vomiting etc.

To me it seems unlikely that this would be side effects from the Pfizer vaccine and more likely there has been a covid outbreak on the ward and the first dose didn’t give them enough immunity to stop them catching the virus before the second dose had time to kick in.

I know it’s an isolated incident but potentially food for thought?

A doctor I know had their 2nd Pfizer jab yesterday and are also off today. They've told me that reactogenicity is worse for the 2nd dose so it's not unexpected.

It's just the one out of the group vaccinated yesterday where they are though.

Exactly right.

Forgive me in not trusting them for anything they ever say, though I suppose it's only based on all endless fricking times they've proven to be untrustworthy.

Reactogenicity is my new favourite word. My day is made.

But... having a big target is a good idea.

That makes sense logically.

I think the ‘offer’ bit refers to all the vulnerable being done. If they have 13m vaccines ready to go, they’ll use them all - even if some of them have to go to people working at the vaccination centre, they won’t allow any to go to waste.

Yeah maybe it’s just side effects I guess to the vaccine. I really have no clue but apparently it’s a significant amount of them off sick 😞

I am amazed that some will still give this government the benefit of the doubt after everything that has happened. This is partly the problem, if we keep on believing liars then of course they will continue to deceive.

I didn't say anything about the size of the target. My issue is with the changing goal posts.

But it isn't really... how many people do you think will just not turn up for an appointment?

This feels like groundhog day - didn't you post that yesterday?

It makes sense logically...to you.

I don't agree for reasons I've already outlined.

Did anyone hear Sir John Bell about half an hour ago on BBC? He said  “things won’t be 100% normal, but we will be absolutely fine by Easter”

Dunno who that is but I’m fed up of the overpromising. They do it over and over again and then things just get worse. I honestly feel lower in this first week of 2021 than I did in 2020.

I completely agree with you. The government’s overpromising targets and then missing them over and over again is just getting ridiculous by now

Fair enough. I dont see how a smaller target will get more people vaccinated than a larger target. Thats the only ballgame.

Are you saying a smaller target will get more people vaccinated? Why?

No idea, how can I possibly know that?

As I said if they had said at the beginning their target was to offer x amount of vaccines by 15th Feb then great. But they said their target is to vaccinate by that date and now they are changing their wording on that target. It doesn't really give off the image of a trustworthy government.

whilst they can quite easily fuck up .... as has been proven many times .... some people might prefer in this instance to remain as positive as possible .... that is also allowed , no reason in my eyes to shut down hope ... lets see how things go and in 1 months time you can tell us that you have been right .... and I will happily agree or disagree with you
