The absolute state of plague island. Grim.

Yes just checked my postcode today and it has gone up 81.2% to 491.9. Not a chance I'm going out and clapping anyone with numbers that high. I'm sure more than anything they want the numbers to drop.

I’m tempted but also not sure at the same time!

It's such a personal choice. Everything I've read and seen, including passing it into the person I know at the Oxford vaccine trials suggests it's probably safe. It's in late stage 3 trials and the first set is due to report soon according to the press without serious issues.

However it is still a clinical trial and the literature makes clear that whilst you'll probably be fine they can't absolutely definitely guarantee it.

For me I'm reasonably comfortable that it should be fine. Potential pay off both personally and for society is worth it. You could be partly responsible for helping save thousands of lives.

Not really. They are only counting vaccinations not offers. Literally what he said.

It's not literally what he said.

To clear this up (and I have zero doubt of this):

The are NOT counting vaccinations.

They are counting people offered the vaccines ("offered to have had") in Hancock's wording

So if I'm offered the jab for 13 February and I don't take it up, the vaccine number still ticks up by 1 towards the 13m target.

PM saying that the vulnerable will have been 'offered a slot for the vaccine' by mid Feb.  That is completely different from having the vulnerable actually vaccinated by then.

Yep he's moving the goalposts already like @xxialac is saying.

Just now dump 12 million vaccination letters in the nearest skip and that's proof of how world beating at vaccinating the public we are.

Sorry slightly unrelated to the current convo but my sister works in a major hospital in a city. Most of the staff had their second Pfizer jab done yesterday and a large majority have gone off sick today with fever/aches& pains/vomiting etc.

To me it seems unlikely that this would be side effects from the Pfizer vaccine and more likely there has been a covid outbreak on the ward and the first dose didn’t give them enough immunity to stop them catching the virus before the second dose had time to kick in.

I know it’s an isolated incident but potentially food for thought?

didn't they bin that, lateral tests not accurate enough?

Different places rolled it out differently. Kirklees for example set up some drive through mass testing sites. Barnsley and Coventry gave out the rapid test kits to specific groups and wanted them to test themselves at regular intervals.

You could, by mid Feb, have been offered a slot for the vaccination, though that slot might not be until much later in the year.

We're working against September here really aren't we?  I've no doubt some restrictions will be loosened again in the summer, but it's autumn when we need to ready for.

Still, maybe I'm wrong and things will be almost sorted in 6 weeks time.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
    • Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
