As I say I believe there is a new strain. But there have been before haven't there? Not saying it's bollocks, but does seem to be being used to cover the government's tracks a bit.

But this is a special London strain...

Seriously, worrying times and hope everyone can stay safe/still enjoy Christmas as much as you can.

Obviously it’s just guesswork, but if there is a new strain that spreads more easily, there is also a chance it’s less dangerous as well.

Hopefully if it is genuine, they’ll know enough to tell us later.

Yes that would follow the usual trajectory of viruses I think. Allows them to spread more effectively without killing the host.

I hope they actually give us some decent info in the briefing.

Yeah my point isn't that I think it's a lie, but maybe it's being... leaned on a bit. Thought it was weird that Matt Hancock seemed to be the first person to say anything about it too to be honest.

I see what you mean and yeah I found that strange too!

that's honestly what he has told me. He is pretty high up in PHE so probably close to the truth...but maybe MPs will persuade Bojo to water it down between now and 4:30/

It's pretty watered down as it is if its just London. To stop people leaving London at christmas, the plans they were going to leave for need to be cancelled too otherwise they'll just go anyway....

yeah, we'll see....he has got a few things a bit wrong in the past...maybe Johnson has to get feedback from ministers and backbenchers before making any radical changes.

Yeah I'd imagine your mate is telling you what PHE thinks should happen and then that has to get filtered through the Johnson team so gets changed?

yeah, hopefully...I think they're desperately trying to find out as much as possible about this new strain, but we probably won't know anything definitive for a while.

This might explain it

I know it looks dodgy but it’s has been confirmed by a couple of people in that industry as a valid account. We’ll see in 2 hours I guess and of course it hasn’t been confirmed so could change.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
