Haha no chance. Many like Foals and were open to hearing a good tune last night. The likes of Kasabian, Kings of Leon, Two Door Cinema Club, The Killers and Biffy Clyro all well below Foals here.

But yes, bring on that Other headline set.

Thats what im holding out for.... Other stage headline slot would be perfect fit at this moment in time I think.

Them and Vampire Weekend :D

More chat from Yannis about Glastonbury at around 07:40 here.

So hard to know how to take that... "Glasto is the one" "dont know if it will be this year or next year" is he trying to get Emily's attention? Have they already been booked for this year? or next year?

Sounds like they haven’t been asked and the hole within the schedule is in case they are asked...

Exactly how I felt listening to it. Not booked. Hoped to be but if not we’ll do next year please Emily.

I absolutely loved their first two albums but the subsequent ones haven’t really moved me as much even if they do contain some decent songs.    If they’re playing I’ll go see them.  In 2016 they were very good indeed on the Pyramid but I was extremely well oiled at the time and this may have affected my judgement.

Fair play, I must have mis-read the general opinon of Foals on here.

Been a huge fan since the first album myself, and seen them many times (including in a pub in Doncaster!).

That said, I was a little disappointed by What Went Down. Felt the best three songs had all been released before the album came out itself (What Went Down, Mountain At My Gates, A Knife In The Ocean) and the rest of the tracks didn't live up that level (never a huge fan of Snake Oil).

Lol I was saying the other night that I was annoyed I missed them when they played a pub in Doncaster.

The new song is fine but it could fit seamlessly into the last album. It’s more of the same really which is slightly disappointing but not very surprising. After Holy Fire it really seemed like they were on the cusp of being really huge but it feels to me like they’ve been simmering just below where they should be ever since.

When they said they were releasing 2 albums in one year I was a bit worried. When was the last time a band released 2 really good new albums in one year? They’ve struggled to follow up Holy Fire with something as good (never mind better) and yet somehow they now have enough material for 2 albums in the same year both of which are good enough to put out? Sounds suspicious to me. If they want to get massive again they need to release one solid album with a banger or two that’ll get some radio play.

King Gizzard managed 5 in 2017 that were all genuine worthwhile efforts. Ty Segall managed something similar last year (although, to be fair, only 3 of them were good).

I agree with your point though, this seems more like a double album they've decided to split the release of and good double albums are very rare.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
