Remembering how much I LOVE Hot Chip

My first Glastonbury and that day was really special - They were preceded by Elbow and followed by Massive Attack if i remember rightly.  Standout memories of them doing Wearing My Rolex with Wiley (before he went weird) and No Fit State.

You can see me briefly on that video but I wont try to point myself out.  Probably the moment I fell in love with Glastonbury.

I didn't catch that gig despite being there - but remember watching that on the coverage:

You going to any of the CP Park gigs? None really take my fancy this years sadly.

I went to a couple of the south facing shows last summer but agree that there’s not as much for me this time. I have plans when Jungle are on but I would have considered Richard Ashcroft but his anti vaccination conspiracy promotion has put me off a bit.

wireless in CP park isn’t my bag but seemed to look like good fun for the target audience

Posted this in the spare tickets thread, but makes sense to put it here too...

Due to pull outs (including myself) I've got four spare tickets for Hot Chip at Brixton Academy on Friday 23rd Sept. Happy to see if anyone here wants them before I look to Twickets.

Happy to sell either all four together or two pairs.

Selling for FV, which was a frankly ludicrous £25 each after fees.

DM if interested.

Where did you buy them? I just ask because I bought two tickets for the Friday from Ticketmaster and sold them really quickly through their fan to fan resale when our plans changed. Now going solo on Thursday.

I know Ticketmaster are evil, just mentioning as was impressed by how quickly they shifted!

Bought them on See. Currently none listed on Twickets so can’t imagine there being too many issues shifting them. Especially at that price.

did anyone attend the first show of 4 in Brixton last night?

Setlist looks great, including some new ones I like from the new album.

attending friday night, very excited

I'm going tonight! Think I might avoid looking at the setlist and leave it a surprise....

Will report back!

Think the setlist looks controversial personally. Very heavy on newer stuff.

    • No worries, it's a perfectly fair question to ask. I would expect people to be talking at the back & near the bars & that is where I would want them to be talking. If your group are enjoying yourselves & the music & briefly chatting to say how much you are loving a certain song etc, you would be an ideal group to stand behind.   My issue is with people having full blown conversations (usually unrelated what is on the stage) whilst being surrounded by people who are trying to listen to the music. This was happening in the middle and towards the front of all stages, & so you have limited options to move around & you may have spent 20 minutes waiting for the band trying to get the closest position that you can. If there's a group of 8 people, there may be 2 or 3 that like the band & the rest will start talking if the music isn't their thing. This may be the norm now for festivals, and if it is, that's ok & I will focus on a band's own gigs & UK based new music festivals.    I'm also not including consequences of my own decision making. I saw Geese on Wednesday so went to Occident after Men I Trust finished so it was understandable there would be chatting that far back. Similarly, getting to The XX after Olivia Rodrigo along with most of the site, I knew my chance of a good spot & a chat-free zone had gone so that was completely reasonable.   PS. I went to Bilbao BBK in 2023 & 2025 & enjoyed it. For Pulp & Kylie in 2025, I got a position early & was surrounded by a respectful & fun crowd for both. The UK non-headlining bands tend to go on the undercover 3rd stage, & most people like to congregate outside so you can usually get close to the front of that stage.
    • Interview on 6 music earlier, was going to get the album to have a listen, but comes out the day they play the festival
