At least that's a set of headliners they belong in. Imagine putting The Killers alongside The Cure.

At least The Killers have more than one good album. If it's The Strokes that's a shocking booking and I like them. Out of the suggested names Gaga would be the best. LG x

You mean like that other bloke they've bumped up?

Oh I agree - I think it's something the festival does do every now and then and ought to do more of.  Hence why I think Foals and Tame Impala can be considered headliner contenders despite a lot of people on here saying they're not big enough.

Back to a topic from earlier then. The Killers are active. Not that I think it’ll happen, especially without a new album until 2020.

Kings of Leon have some random dates too if we’re pulling names out of thin air I guess.

How many good albums does GaGa have though?  I think you can take the best bits of each of them to make a good compilation but personally I don't think she's made a decent LP (although I know that probably doesn't matter much anymore.)

Just been reading about "badger gate".....Yeah, Queen ain't happening. There seems to be a genuine dislike of each other from both sides.

Honestly I'l be glad when Brian May fades back into obscurity, he's been a right annoying twat with this Bo Rhap film, Rami Malek looks genuinely uncomfortable to be around him at this point, In the words of our Friday night headliner, he's getting way too big for his boots

Really? If that's only taking into account personal taste then fair enough but in terms of reception, I'd say their careers have followed pretty similar patterns with massively successful debuts and tailing off since but maintaining festival headline status. Big difference regarding their suitably for Glastonbury now though (for me) with one having headlined around their peak and the other having never played. (Yes I know the Killers are bigger but I think the point still stands)

I know they're not the biggest band in the world and they haven't completely lived up to their first album since but they are maybe the coolest new York band ever and they do show flashes of brilliance. I'd say this thread has convinced me that Interpol are headlining Glastonbury 2019. On the Sunday for the locals, obviously.

I'm from Somerset and it's a little known fact that the farmers round here love a bit of post punk nyc revival

Was so disappointed with their Reading set in 2011, would love to see them do a late tent set

Difference being whilst you're probably right about The Killers tailing off as well, that didn't happen until after their third album. Hot Fuss was massive and their biggest album but Sam's Town and Day & Age are huge too. They usually play the most from Hot Fuss but a fair whack from the other two as well and don't just rely on the one album. I've also heard The Strokes are dead live, Killers put on a hell of a show at the JP apparently. For what it's worth I don't like The Killers and wouldn't see them but they're a stronger headliner than The Strokes.

Watching them at Leeds was like scratching metal. Awful and boring. I wouldn't wish someone to watch them upon anyone.

Seen them live 3 times... brilliant all 3 times. More hits than the strokes thats for sure.

Even if you think The Strokes one have one good album, that's more than The Killers have.

Room On Fire is better than any Killers albums n all.

The Killers have more big songs to fill a headline set at a festival than The Strokes do.

Surely that's not in question?

Nah that's not in question. What's in question is whether any of them are any good.

The Fame and Born This Way are absolutely massive albeit not to everyone's tastes.

As you said, you can take the best bits from each, which would be her setlist. My argument is that if you took the best bits from The Strokes you'd end up with Is This It, with a few off the second.

    • Skylink is 24 hours... But the skylink will drop you off at Pegasus business Park or EMA (East Midlands Airport) where you'll have to use the Download shuttle link, which isn't 24 hours. The last shuttle from the Download transport hub to EMA is 12:15 TrentBarton / Local bus info here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/download2026   Skylink Derby / Leicester / Loughborough timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/services/skylinkderby  Shuttle timetable here: https://www.trentbarton.co.uk/userfiles/hotel.pdf If you miss the shuttle, which is very doubtful, you'll just have to find another way to EMA / Pegasus business park, maybe a taxi. You could even walk to EMA from the Download transport hub, wouldn't take too long. Just make sure you use the airport's 'circular path' instead of the dangerous roads.  I walk the circular path often, it's nice and easy. I would post instructions but I very much doubt you'll miss the shuttle, and if you do, it isn't hard to work out. The footpath is clearly signposted from directly opposite / across the road from where the download map has labelled "Pickup and Drop Off Exit."
    • So for Harry Styles it was actually a plastic bag that basically blocks the view of the front and back cameras. You can still use the phone screen. It's much easier than using lockers, especially for people leaving for the last train etc    I think it's basically reliant on the threat of security kicking you out if you start filming.
    • Hey, does anybody have a joining link for the WhatsApp group plz? I know the secret sets get posted there but have a new phone and number
