I know half of the board is going to kill me but is there any chance that The Cure would take a different slot and not headline? Stormzy, AM and Macca sounds more complete imo. There is still that info from the american AM fanpage though...

What are your thoughts on this @Gucci Piggy

Hearing Neil's put LG as TBC for Friday, this makes sense to me. One of the concerns over Stormy Z was that he's never played a set as long as would be expected from a headliner. This will obviously be bolstered by the new material, and also some guests on stage (eg MNEK) would help too. But having LG as sub, with a slightly longer set than usual, balances this out.

I was an Oasis fan, and the best Oasis gig I've been to was LG at Finsbury Park this year - leaning on Def Maybe a lot, was a cracking set.

Glasto - diverse as ever. They know what they're doing. Bring it on.

Hard to imagine the cure not headlining. Robert Smith loves playing his 3-hour long set.

Having seen the post from @blakejp on twitter a while ago (ArcticMonkeysUS forum creator who's speculations are normally pretty accurate) I'm relatively sure AM won't be headlining. I think the "iconic British festival in June" that they are said to be headlining will be Isle of Wight or even British Summer Time in Hyde park - just a hunch, since they haven't played those. Just feels too soon after Glasto 2013 for them (which I must say I really enjoyed watching).

Thread is below..

Having said this - I will feel obliged to see Paul McCartney if the rumours are true (even if I'm not the biggest fan)!

Looking at the set times from 2016 both Muse and Adele did 90mins with the subs doing 75.  I’m sure this will be the same for Stormzy’s day too.  He did play 60mins last time so I’m sure with a new album plus a guest or 2 and throw in a few speeches about how thankful he is..... well 90 mins is easily done

Stormzy

AM

Macca

To me that sounds the most likely on the face of it... but Neil's info throws the middle one right out. Putting AM & Macca on would be a safe bet after a more adventurous booking too.

Why are you all doing this to me?

If it's Macca and AM I will be in tears of happiness from the reveal, until Monday 1st July.

I'm pretty convinced it isn't AM, however, not just from the info (and Blakes comment which really doesn't scream GF to me), but also cos I think it's too soon and they're more likely for 2020.

Buttttt, is there also a possibility of a shock?

Yep. I've no way of knowing with any certainty that what i'm being told is correct. There's a million different reasons for why it might be wrong, and ultimately it's just gossip.

What I've heard, tho, should be right.

I'm guessing this photo was from the Glastonbury Oxfam as the window of the Streatham branch does not look like this.

Oxfam website shows that the Streatham branch is probably closest to his local area, we don't have one in Croydon.

haven't got a ticket yet so have been off the forum sulking but since the first headliner has been announced thought I would come and have a look and see what everyones saying.  A mixed reaction like every other headliner who has or will be announced in the future. There will never be a headliner that everyone is happy with, that's why there's a lot of stages. Personally I'm happy with it. Not a fan of his and have only heard a few of his songs but its someone new, relevant and British. If I get a ticket and nothing else takes my fancy I might even go and watch him. Isn't this the third year in a row he's played? Silver hayes first, Other stage now the pyramid

    • Well he is on a rape charge, don't see that one as controversial.    Although Hakimi is in Morocco squad.
    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
