Most of these are in my favourite ever albums top 10, but if you are on a desert island, I want a bit of variety, so dropped a few. Appitite for Destruction, Dark Side of the moon and Parallel Lines could have all made it:

My list:

Definitely Maybe - Oasis

Songs in the Key of Life - Stevie Wonder

The Prodigy - Jilted Generation

Ok Computer - Radiohead

Different Class - Pulp

Back in Black - ACDC

Sign O The Times - Prince

Neon Bible - Arcade Fire

The Queen is Dead - The Smiths

Honky Dory - Bowie

Play - Moby

Gatecrasher Red

Gatecrasher Red, now that's a throwback. What an album that was.

I love em all, sometimes no.1 is Close to the Edge sometimes it's Fragile, quite often The Yes Album.  I always say when senility finally kicks in someone should put all Yes albums on and I reckon I'll still know every word so deeply embedded they all are.  Mind you I was 12 when I started buying Yes albums. :D

I heard Fragilefirst when I was around 18 and just getting truly into Prog music (Tool were my first 'prog' experience when Lateralus came out..... I was 14 then and it changed the way I view music) and I remember not liking it at the time. I think it was the voice that put me off.

I came back to yes a few years later and was instantly hooked - close to the edge is just amazing all the way through and it was an eye opener. Last year I resurrected my vinyl collection and the first LP I bought to spin was close to the edge. Comes alive on vinyl :D

If you're into Yes give Steven Wilson a go if you haven't already - the man is basically my god and he's remixed a few old yes albums in 5:1 over the last few years :)

Just to add I am now 29 so I've only got into Yes reasonably recently and they've clearly split up now typically :P

God, this is more difficult than I thought. I've set myself the rule of only one album per artist and trying to make it as diverse as possible..

1.) Radiohead- In Rainbows

2.) M83- Saturdays=Youth

3.) The Antlers- Hospice

4.) The Waterboys- This is the Sea

5.) Kanye West- My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

6.) Arcade Fire- Funeral

7.) Glass Animals- How To Be A Human Being

8.) Lisa Hannigan- At Swim

9.) The Maccabees- Given To The Wild

10.) Klaxons- Myths of the Near Future

11.) Bjork- Greatest Hits

12.) LCD Soundsystem- Sound of Silver

Could be 12 different albums on a different day, I'd need 5 white boards, 50 grams of tobacco and a few crates of beer to really work out which albums I'd take. There's a decent mix there, I'd be alright with that. There's lots I'd miss though.

Tried doing this on the basis of only having these to listen to rather than 12 favourite albums. Bit of variety, something to cover different moods.

Adore - Smashing Pumpkins

Positive Songs For Negative People - Frank Turner

Etherwood - Etherwood

Appetite For Destruction - Guns n Roses

Number Of The Beast - Iron Maiden

Master Of Puppets - Metallica

Go on then Oracle, which would you recommend?

'The Name Of This Band Is Talking Heads' is a better live album (tho it's better in its original vinyl form than the extended CD available now).

As for the rest, it depends what the appeal is for you, but it would fall as 'Remain In Light' or 'Speaking In Tongues' I'd say.

Lol, I nearly put Fear of Music if that makes you feel any better! I thought you would be all over Stop Making Sense?

My studio fav tends to move between and 2nd to 4th, depending how I'm feeling that day. Poor old 'More Songs About Buildings and Food' barely gets a mention.

I gave Catherine Wheel a spin last weekend, first time for ages. I'd forgotten how good that is.

Does the original vinyl have 'Electricity' on it? One of the main reason I went for SMS over Fear of Music was I much prefer the stripped back version of Heaven on it, but then again I lose Cities and I Zimbra.. Decisions decisions.

just checked, no it doesn't. You lose out on tracks with the vinyl, but it has a much better flow.

More Songs... is stunning. Stay Hungry, leading into Take Me To The River is just ace. I'll still go for Fear of Music overall, partly for the lyrics.

My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts is surely one of the most important albums, an early pioneer, fusing electronics, African and Middle Eastern influences.
