Spoke to Tim from 3 Daft Monkeys last night. He said they are playing 6 times. Avalon cafe, small world, toad hall, bandstand. Think the Avalon cafe is Thurs midnight: see you there..

ps. @Gnomicide just to let you know I wore my FD top of course.. :-)

I saw that the Bandstand had re-tweeted something from 3DM yesterday so was expecting that one. The first time I saw them was a late one in Avalon Cafe in 2010, Attila The Stockbroker joined them for a few songs. To be honest I think I've had my fill of them, I haven't bothered with them for a few years now. Who knows, maybe I just needed a rest. I wouldn't leave if they came on somewhere and i was in the vicinity but I don't think I'd make a special effort anymore.

Phill Jupitus announced on Twitter he's got dates in Europe before his UK tour starts including Glastonbury. He's over at T&C most years so no real shock

Wondered into a tent in T&C in 2015 to get out of the rain not knowing who was on. It was him and his chums doing whose line is it anyway, ended up staying as it was brilliant stuff

Yeah saw Chadwick was supporting in Brighton. Ace. Enjoyed the new tracks too. Great gig as usual. Warmed me up nicely for bearded theory in 2weeks.

Guess there's more chance I'll get to catch them if they're on Other, but still.. Other :(

Is there a general dislike of the Other Stage?

I'd guess that's where I've spent most of my band-watching time at Glastonbury. Not out of any particular love for the stage itself but because that's where most of the bands I want to see play.

It does seem to suffer from wind affecting the sound, plus sound bleeding from other stages.  But it's where I often have a few moments of looking at the stage, then looking back at the Tor, and the flags, and thinking back to all the years past where I've stood in the same area doing this crazy amazing thing once a year.

There is a general dislike on here if it's not WHs or The Park, the latter being co sidered one of the biggest sound issues places over the years but gets asay with it because it doesn't have the next indie band that are around for a year on it.

The Other rig is wicked, especially since they upgraded it in 2014 or 15. The problem, for most I think, are that the field has no real identity. It can feel a bit soulless. Obviously, the Pyramid is iconic and just has electricity. The Park and West Holts aim to be their own small mini festival, which is great. John Peel, Acoustic, etc. all benefit from being tented which can aid with intimacy. The Other is exactly that.... the "other" one.

On here, after 2013, I recall many folks complaining about sound issues on t'Other re: the wind. But I've never really struggled inside of the mixing tower. After that, it's a bit difficult to control, so I wouldn't begrudge an engineer that.

    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.

    • So, what would the weather have been like at this year's festival?   It's been shambolic around here, the rain is soul destroying and showing no sign of letting up, bar odd sporadic days here and there. Disgraceful for June.   What's it like down there? Have we had a lucky escape?...
