Leave London around 10:30pm hopefully get to site around 3am or slightly before.

Decide to try and make it in one trip so load up like a donkey and head straight to gate D.

GET IN!

Head towards Pennards but might go back to camp arcadia again set tent up and then see what happens from there!

Last year none of that happened as we were stuck in the van for about 9 hours!

Leave Tuesday morning, last minute shop, head to cv fields around 2ish , set up, cheese and wine party, meet neighbours, invite neighbours over for cheese and wine, wait for sunset, leg it to the top of the hill of doom, sit up there with sloe gin toasting ebsent friends, get emotional, get excited, wander back to van

Wednesday - wake up, wait for queue to die down, wander in and off we go :-)

Hope I'm next to you, I loves me cheese and wine I does :-)

Brave new world for me. First time coach and first time solo, but pretty sure my routine will still be tent, joint, cider, wander, lunch, cider, joint, wander.

So the same as every year really!

The basis of any good first day at a festival routine.

Got coach tickets for the first time though so that may throw me off. Just hoping the coaches don't make getting a decent camping spot a never ending nightmare.

Flying from Belfast to Bristol the day before to get supplies and crashing in a hostel then making my way to the festival as early as possible. If anyone has any suggestions on methods of transport from Bristol to Glasto they would be much appreciated!

Would you consider joining our camp of soloists? We are in darble so a short walk from the coach but a bit of a jaunt elsewhere, however a great group of folks at camp.

National Express from Bolton at 08:15 Wednesday morning, arriving at 13:45; first time travelling to the festival by coach.  Few tins on the way down.

Hopefully be set up by 15:30 then off for a wander.  Wednesday night usually consists of sitting in the Avalon Inn getting drunk.  Can't wait.

Might change it for this year, usually it means going by National Express, 3am from Sheffield, getting there for 9.15am (last year I think it was 7.15pm after being on a bus where the driver couldn't actually turn the heating off and an overflowing toilet.). Thing is, when all goes to plan I'm usually there loads earlier than everyone else, so I'm just sat around Dairy Ground watching it fill up until the first few get there about 11ish. But I dunno, there's something about the early morning buzz of it on the way down.

Drive down to Huish Episcopi on the Tuesday morning to stay the night and drop the Bambina with the folks. Couple of jars over at Eli's on the Tuesday night. Get up around 7 for the 20 minute drive to the site. Joint the queue with a cider in hand. Get camped up (oooooh er) then the obligatory Wednesday wander  hoping this year not to lose wallet, phone and wife (in that order).

Went to my first one this year just gone - plans afoot for 2017 already ^_^

Tuesday evening we're driving from London and staying at a place in Yeovil. Plan is to be up early on the Wednesday and head in so we can set up fairly quickly and then go for a mooch. We're in a group of around 20, with 6 of us doing the trip from London. We're expected to arrive first, so I'm hoping we can get hold of the others tents and pitch them so as to save the space before we go for a wander. Fingers crossed anyway...

I'm flying in from the west coast of Canada this year and bringing the Canadian girlfriend so all previous plans are out the window.

there is talk my group will cycle in using the scheme (apparently there are cyclist only showers and toilets). This will be her first real festival as everything over here is crap. Not just crap in comparison, just crap.

Not even sure which day we will fly in yet so all very stressful for me as I enjoy the planning nearly as much as being there!

Leaving time depends on my always late friend , I aim to leave at 6am but usually by the time he is collected and car loaded its 7.15 !! although just a quick trip down the road from Taunton (apart from last year ) so arrive and unload the bikes and trailers in the car park and a gentle cycle untill we hit the queues of pedestrians waiting to get in !! just the 2 of us next year so is going to be a very weird festival :)

Ah thanks Spindles that's a lovely offer. At the moment I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing but hopefully I'll figure out by June! Really appreciate that.

This is how I did it in 2015 and will no doubt be the same next year...

Saturday before: depart from Melbourne, Australia overnight. Arrive in London late afternoon the same day and enjoy London for the evening. The journey is exhilarating and very much part of a pilgrimage to Worthy Farm. From the moment I step out of my front door, the journey has begun and I'm consumed with the memories of the past and the excitement of what's to come.

Sunday: Cruise on over to Frome and spend a couple of days with the 'rents. Whatever.

Tuesday: Planning. Putting together everything that's I've ordered to arrive there, including Travel Johns, tent pegs, etc. - set up the tent for a dry run, if indeed it's dry. Buy booze. Pack bag. Hammer eFestivals and get caught up in the Glastonbury eve buzz. Look again at where to camp and study the Clashfinder for the umpteenth time.

Wednesday morning (4am): Get into pre-ordered taxi for a short trip to the B&W Showground. This is super exciting. It's dark and cold out, and I sit in my parent's living room like a child looking for Father Christmas. waiting for the headlights of the taxi which comes to transport me for the final few miles to a magical land 10,000 miles away from home.

Wednesday morning (4:30am): Arrive at the Showground and shuffle toward a shuttle bus. There's not many people here at this time, but I've never waited for more than 10-15 minutes before setting off, usually with a bus full of random people. Loners, first timers, shitfaced people who've obviously had no sleep (and for whom I feel quite sorry - nobody wants to be battling sleep to that extent right from the beginning). Then we set off, and the sight of Somerset's rural roads only fuels the adrenaline. I sit in anticipation of the first glimpse of the farm, and there it is. Majestic. Overwhelming. Home. Everything causes excitement at this point. High-vis jackets, Festival-branded signs. Even the parking logistics.

Wednesday morning (5am): The plod from the shuttle bus to PGA always surprises me by how long it is. I look around and feel glad I've beaten most of the coaches, which start piling in about half an hour later. My first up-close view of the fence. I've never felt so happy to be shut out of anywhere. Strangers become compadres. Pretty soon we'll all be family. Then the wait. Hours long, and boy does that go slowly. The false alarms. The occasional crew walking in an access-limited zone receiving envious, wide-eyed gazes from the sleepy-eyed devoted. Efests on the mobile.

Wednesday morning (8am): Gates open!! The polite rush, the squeals (both audible and atmospheric, but both equally tangible) and finally, I'm in. I've arrived. This is what so many months, in many ways, has been leading up to. I'm here. I'm at fucking Glastonbury. The wristband. The lanyard. The bag. The program. The cheerful, almost hug-like hellos from the stewards and crew. And then the walk. The walk to Pennards, where I usually camp, is tough and long, but it must be done. It's the last stretch.

Wednesday morning (9am): Setting up camp. Bags down. A quick sideways look at prospective neighbours to make sure I'm not parking myself in Twatsville, and up goes the tent. I always mess it up a bit, but finally I'm set up. And now, before anything else, a can of Scrumpy Jack while I look over the site, seeing it filling up with tents and joy. I get to know my neighbours and I can't think of the last time cider tasted so good.

Wednesday morning (10am): Practicalities. The lock-ups. Everything of value goes in them. Booze, money, you name it. Drop by the camp stewards tent to say hello (I don't know anybody there, I just relish the being there and in my own way it's a friendly thank you and 'all the best' for the next five days). And then, up the hill. No looking back. The climb barely registers as the sound of a city forming, with so much promise and potential, floods my senses.

Wednesday morning (10:15am): I stop. The fence is about 20 meters away. The Glastonbury sign to my right. I'm very familiar with what I'm about to see. I've seen it so many times before. In photos. Videos. In my memories, and my dreams. Slowly I turn, second can in hand. And I simply take it in. Lump in my throat. Something in my eye. This is what it's all about.

Usual routine goes out the window next year. It's my first year by coach, first time arriving on a Thursday, departing from Leeds in the morning.

Looking forward to arriving at Gate A, one of my favourite two gates, setting up and then getting stuck into the festival in full flow.

Also looking forward to the coach as well, not to have to worry about driving, I can imagine the coachs having a great atmosphere

Usual routine for the past few years has been to leave Manchester Tuesday am, drive down slowly stopping of a couple of places... Spend the afternoon in Somerset, eat in Wells,  then find a pub for the passengers in the car... Then park in Ashcombe Park, and the wander up to the queue when we are ready usually when car parks open, then chill and have a laugh in the queue (last year get far too wet) then in and set up in Oxylers in a nice little spot and then depending on how much cider we've brought maybe make a trip back to the car

Coach from Leicester in 2017. I took a coach for the first time this year and it was relatively painless, despite the horror stories of people in their cars. I imagine me and my crew will be setting up in Oxlyers again as, despite the criticism, its a cracking location in terms of access to all the hotspots on site that we enjoy and we've never had any trouble there either.

First day will involve a little walkabout, meeting up with other friends onsite and then way too many drinks at the Brothers Bar in the sunshine (YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT WILL BE SUNNY) and then heading up to the stone circle to begin a night of debauchery.

Leave Manchester lunchtime Tuesday having collected the real ale from the micro brewery. Me and the two brothers drive down with a collection of tents for those workers unable to get away that early.

Drive to Pilton to our annual barbecue with friends who live in the village. Few beers,  good food and anticipation chatter.  Get our heads down for a few hours in their house and then up at 4.30. Lift to the Villagers car park behind Gate B and join the queue about 5.

Once in straight down Muddy Lane and through the first gap in the hedge and find a good spot in Big Ground. Set up multiple tents for whoever of friends have tickets and then relax with the first ale of the festival.  Then it's straight up to the Stone Circle and walk to the Park bar taking in the most wonderful festival sights you can imagine

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
