You probably need to remind everyone where you got your username, Yog!

Well, I realised that I didn't like my old username (which I had given very little thought over) and then came up with the first thing that came in to my head (ie. I gave my current user name very little thought over too). Why Youghurt on a Stick came in to my head I'll never know, but in to my head it came, so I just put in a name change request using it. Even though it kind of just fell out of my brain I'm kinda happy with my username now - if one can indeed find happiness in a username.

There was a thread on usernames and how they came about quite some time ago. It made for interesting reading if I recall correctly. So, anybody reading this who feels like they want to 'share' the reasoning (if any) behind their username then please say so here on this thread, because I, for one, am bored shitless and will eagerly absorb the information.

Agreed. Not trying to be PC but it does sound a bit crass trying to explain something in terms you'll never actually know. I suspect the post was ill thought out than meant to offend though.

Thanks Yog, though not offended and my response was meant as a joke!  I guess T day nerves are causing a sense of humour bypass.  Still, I'm not sure how comparable spending 5 days in mud listening to great bands and meeting wonderful people is with pushing something with the girth of a melon out of your nether regions while complete strangers watch.  Unless there was an act in the naughty corner no-one's telling me about...

I'm Grumpyhack because I used to be a journalist (hence the hack bit).

And I was watching one of the Grumpy Old Men TV series a few years ago and realised I was agreeing with almost everything the grumpys were saying.  So I declared myself to be a Grumpy Old Man and the username came about.

When I was due to become a grand dad of twins and my daughter asked me what I wanted to be called - grand dad, grandpa, bamp or what.  And my answer was Grumpy - so that's what I am to the twins.

Weve had drop outs in our group due to mud this year... and these were vets having been to a number of festivals before.  They are just fatigued and giving themselves a fallow year before the fallow.

My other half wants to "see if he misses it" by doing a year watching it on TV.

That said as many have said they are not going weve had as many want to come in their place... it will be as busy as ever!

I am currently having the yearly argument with my group:

GF - doesn't want to carry anything after last year in the mud and wants us to get a campervan ticket again, despite the fact we should be ok using Spring Ground for one more year. This is despite the fact we will need to pitch a tent and sleep in it as the van only has 1 single bed in it.

GF's dad - wants to use the campervan as he is 61 and will be 62 at the next festival.

Me - wants to just go to the festival!

I really didn't like the campervan fields when we used them, felt rather isolated from the rest of the festival and they are quite some walk from the main site depending on where you get put. I also feel that £100 or more for the campervan is a bit of a crock when I will still need to pitch the tent and sleep in that. The GF says if we don't do campervan she isn't going. Her dad will accept Spring Ground but wants to take his van in (which won't happen, her brother can walk and doesn't need it - they save the van spaces for those who NEED the vans in the field).

Same shit, different year :P we'll get there in the end, we always do!

I want to try for coach tickets for the first time but Mr Charm doesn't fancy it, I'm a little bit annoyed as I think it makes sense to have 2 shots at getting in, if we don't get lucky on Sunday I'm blaming him.

I managed to persuade my other half to agree to try for coach tickets. I'm a bit nervy as I have a feeling there's going to be more to the booking process what with choosing coaches and that, I'll probably cock up somehow!

Pre ticket day stress is doing my head in, I just want it over with. My group keeps changing, we probably won't know the final group until Saturday night at this rate. Some people would like to go and will be trying for tickets but probably won't be too fussed if it doesn't happen (they have other festivals or holidays in mind too). 2 people are 100% committed and desperate to go but did say I've been over thinking it (which I probably have to be fair). I just want to go one way or the other, I'll do everything in my power to get a ticket. Hopefully everything else will fall into place, what will be will be.

Well done, mines a bit stubborn, I'm considering just trying on Thursday anyway, yeah be careful when booking, after your stone roses tickets disaster a cock up sounds possible.

I can't wait for Sunday, don't know what all this chat of nerves is about.

The adrenaline rush as the clock strikes 9am is amazing!

Possibly blinded by having got tickets every year here but embrace the chaos you lovely people :)

The Indy have an article up about how to get Glastonbury tickets - they are advocating people pay up for the refreshinator app. I bet loads have/will and it will either fuck us all over or slow the entire process down because of the increased traffic.

When we got coach tickets in 2015 the guy that got through somehow managed to only get a single and not returns for us all. I understand why they offer singles but its something to watch out all the same. I was just happy to be going - the coming back part wasn't on the agenda for quite the while.

They also say it has been confirmed that 2010 will be a fallow year...........

hahahaha didn't notice that.

Ever since the Indy went online only they have gone shit. None of the articles can be read through without noticing at least ONE typo :P

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
