Listened to most of the interview yesterday (sorry if this has already been covered), and he was VERY complimentary about the festival. He basically said stuff like it's the best festival in the world, and they feel like being home there. He also said that it doesn't get any better than being in Shangri-La at 3am.

He also alluded to 'some dates' next year, which sounded like big shows of some sort (although he wasn't giving much away and I might be adding 2 + 2 together).

The interview is well worth an hour of your time though if you can spare it.

You are adding 2 + 2 together. In this case though equalling 5 is a good thing.

That article is ostensibly good news. Bit nervous though that Radiohead are in as SR for Saturday, the same day Ed Sheeran is rumoured. Assume this is due to the Daft Punk info for Friday

Until there's some sort of concrete evidence Sheeran is touring next summer I'm quietly confident. He's a bit of a star these days so you'd imagine the PR machine would have to be in full swing before Glastonbury.

I think because Stone Roses can only play Friday or Sunday, and the Daft Punk rumour specifically stated Friday.

so could be daft punk, ed sheeran, radiohead in that order then (praying to get ed Saturday because I've bet on it :-)

Since they've been consistently getting 23-24 songs on this tour, I would think they would get that at Glastonbury even if it's a little longer than the usual headline set.

yeah i think if you were G you would just give them whatever they wanted really! and then just work the rest of the day's timings / lineup from there backwards. At least, that's what I would do.

If Ed is in the mix, I think Radiohead, Sheeran and Roses would be the way to go, although I'd personally prefer RH on Sunday.

Just listened to an extract from Ed's 6Music interview with Matt Everett.  Its pretty exciting stuff.  23-24 tracks sounds like the dream, the set could be split into 2 halves, the first being OKC in its entirety and the second a mixed bag.  That would be incredible.

I really don't want them to play OK Computer in its entirety. I can't think of a single band that has released a vital sounding album after doing one of those full album shows. It's a death knell for a band being a going concern and and admission that you're a legacy act now. Radiohead are somehow still recording music that's up there with their best, even now. I'd hate them to become backwards looking.

    • Wow, way to insult the guy.
    • yougov seems to be the outlier when it comes to the Burnham bounce. But also, being a bounce, it was never going to last, but with Reform maybe on the way down, and Tories holding steady, we could end up with Reform, Labour and Tories all between 20 and 25% for a while. A lot of it at moment with Burnham is vibes, and the vibes are currently sexy and are pulling support back from Greens, but the autumn budget is key...will they go big and bold, or will they do very little because they're thinking a 2027 general election?
    • Attended a gig at Piece Hall for the first time on Saturday (Opeth), the music was excellent. Just a couple of points on the organisation & the event itself. - Getting through the gates seemed to take longer than required. I was at the South gate about 30 mins before stated start time and still missed first half of Katatonia. - Coffee stall was serving cold coffee later on. - Lots of the crowd seemed to be more interested in chatting than listening to the music. Doubly annoying when sound levels for Opeth seemed quieter than Paradise Lost, is this usual for the venue due to curfew etc? Luckily there was enough room so I could move close to the front of the crowd and couldn't hear drunken chatter anymore 🙂
    • Tickets will just be sent out via email; going out next Monday 10th August apparently.
