EAST AND WEST CAMPER CREW

The communication really has been nothing but a joke. There really needs to be a post-mortem in a few weeks and review everything that's gone wrong. This can't be allowed to happen again or I can see it being the start of the end for the festival.

On the plus side it should be an absolute doddle come T-day.

Just travelled via a303... Little advice for anyone heading to east entrance. Head towards a little village called Evercreech (A371, try to avoid A37 at all costs), and then most importantly you need to find a lane called Easton Lane. They have put road closed signs at the entrance to it but I was naughty & ignored, brings you out more or less right opposite the Pylle Lane east entrance. Has taken me apx two hours from Torquay so far.

Yeah that's fine. Sod everyone else queuing up to get in cos you're so selfish you flout the local traffic orders and push your way in.

Proper Glasto spirit, that is. <_<

Noticed campers coming out of that road on Tuesday. Guess it's been going on for some time - could do with a Marshall on it really.

Just posted on Glastoinfo twitter. Not much help really:

We are aware of problems facing caravan/campervan drivers at the moment. As soon as we have official word on the situation, we will... (1/2)

...recirculate it; in the meantime, please stay tuned to @worthyfm on 87.7 for traffic updates, and thank you for your patience. - A (2/2)

Worthless fm is astoundingly uninformed/uninformative.

Chill your beans mate. Fuck it, next time I won't bother trying to help others.

ps I didn't even meet one car & there was no queue at the end of the lane what so ever.

Local people use those back roads to get to and from work and emergency services use them to get to people in need. Your selfish attitude is putting people at risk and turning locals against the festival.

This, muchly.  At the risk of repeating myself, I have a lot of unhappy colleagues and friends who've been trying to go about their daily business over the last couple of days, actions such as taking back roads really is pushing their patience!

We've given ourselves until 1pm to make a decision on whether to head back down or not. Hoping (in vain I think) for some official word by then. I can't see us getting the trailer tent across any boggy churned up ground on the back of a Kia Ceed, so for us I think it must be B&W or nothing.

so just to clarify, you queued up to not get in, then queued up to get out, then sat in a showground, then queued up to not get in again, then went back to the showground which people are now queuing to get out of, to join another queue to not get in?

:( I really hope this gets sorted by the end of the day, it's not funny. And what the hell do all those people queuing, do about toilets..O.o

This just popped up in a local FB group. Yesterday was horrendous for us locals too. The bus services were badly affected and it was nigh on impossible to book a taxi to Wells to get a bus from there. Some Strode students missed important exams. Several carers couldn't get to their clients. So no, not amused by festival goers ignoring No Entry signs and taking the back roads. Totally selfish and, as someone else said, dangerous. We expect to put up with a certain amount of disruption and that's OK. But yesterday was a fiasco. I can't remember it ever being that bad in over 20 years living in Glastonbury town. Clogging up our 'secret' back roads is a step too far. I wish you'd been arrested and spent the weekend in Yeovil nick.

Complete chaos just got onto bath and West and told to pitch up we are here for weekend then told not to because we can't stay here all weekend. The we were quite happy to stay now vans queuing to get off site told they are being escorted in in groups of 20. Don't know whether to join that queue and sit in traffic for another few hours or just pitch up and get the bus in. Each steward is saying different things not their fault but someone needs to tell them.what to tell us

For anybody who read my situation earlier, left our Caravan at 6am this morning, walked to gate C, through the festival and out of B to the car, took an hour. Drove out of the festival and was able to drive right up to blue gate and turn off the road at about 07:10am, from that point I arrived at our Caravan at 10:30am. So it took the best part of 3.5 hours from Blue gate entrance, but I'm here now and we have all of our stuff (most importantly booze. It was an orderly but finally over.

Our friends however have just messaged to say they are nearly here (they left at 10 2 hour drive) I thought that at several points yesterday and it took 20 hours altogether! I think they're in for a nasty surprise trying to get into blue gate, but hopefully not.

Lots of people, us included, pitched at Bath and West Show ground. No-one going anywhere in the new queue. Can't sees them getting everyone to pack up again now.

Quick question, if you don't mind, how are the queues for the shuttle bus as a result, have they maintained a reasonable service level given people have unfortunately had to take the same action as you by pitching at the showground?

I think they usually reduce the bus service frequency after the major rush on Wednesday, but given the way things have developed I'd hope they would maintain a regular shuttle service to at least help get people from the showground to and from the festival.

Jesus, Nobby. Fair play though.

So cars are getting off the main road ok? But getting held up in the car parks?

Are cars getting parked up in East blue car parks ok?

Cos the A37 is still a big, long red line on AA traffic.
