It's strange, but even though I've never seen the weather be so on a knife edge this close to the festival (it really could  go either way) it's the year I've been most relaxed about it.  Got a wide brimmed waterproof hat, decent jacket and comfy wellies.  A lot of the stuff I want to see is under cover.  Of course I'm praying for the mud to be kind, but still, not as angst ridden as previously.

From the Standard:

Quote

Revellers have been warned to expect rain when they descend in their thousands on Glastonbury festival next week.

But forecasters say there is a low risk of flooding, with the showers likely to be less severe than those seen in London and across the country over the past week.

Meteorologists are also predicting spells of sunshine during the festival in Somerset, which opens its gates on Wednesday, June 22.

Martin Bowles from the Met Office said: "There's no particular reason why those showers should be the kind of heavy long-lasting showers that we have been having this week.

"It's more likely to be showers that pass through quite quickly."

Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm has been hit by flooding in previous years, but Mr Bowles said: "I don't think flooding is a risk [this year].

"Temperatures are expected to be near average, so it will be high teens, 18 or 19 degrees. Glastonbury Festival at Worthy Farm has been hit by flooding in previous years, but Mr Bowles said: "I don't think flooding is a risk [this year].

"If it's unsettled it's likely to be fairly windy, but there's no indications of gales or anything."

The "most likely weather situation" is "sunshine and showers, a bit breezy", Mr Bowles added.

The Standard desperately trying to turn this into a story of doom and gloom, even though the quotes are actually fairly positive!

Did someone say FLOOD!!!

Yeah "Revellers have been warned to expect hardly any rain when they descend in their thousands on Glastonbury festival next week." doesn't have the same ring to it.

So, in an article which essentially states, showers/sun/breezy, they get 3 reference to flooding in in 8 paragraphs.  Journalists are c**ts.

Its the cold that gets you. Just want it warm at the very least.

Not for me, it's the rain.  I can carry more stuff around if it's cold enough to wear a coat.  I've never been bothered by the cold at Glastonbury other than 2007 and 1998 when it was also chucking it down all weekend.

Well I didnt actually want to mention the chucking down. At least if its warm as well it wouldnt be as bad. But warm and dry is better. I hate being cold.

Pilton today has been very wet.

was over the site today lots of surface water and mud on the roads, grass where not driven on holding up well but very squelchy underfoot with water.

Naughty corner very muddy and wet, sadly they need to use big plant machinery to build I am sure chippings will be put down prior to arrival.

On a positive note weekend weather looking good, and so is next week so should be a lot drier when everyone arrives, basically everyone pray for dry and wind up to Tuesday.

thankfully Glastonbury seem far more prepared to deal with the wet weather than most other festivals i've experienced so even if it does turn a bit muddy i'm sure they'll do their best to sort it out before people arrive on site. just really hope it isn't raining on arrival - never had that happen to me at a festival and it's always been a huge fear of mine (i believe it was a big problem in 2011, which i fortunately/unfortunately didn't attend)

Yeah exactly. I'd take dry and cold. Put on some layers and keep moving around/drinking. Easier than if it's wet and muddy.
