'nother new M83 song

Fair to say he's taken some influence from the film scores he did with those strings. Decent song though, the first single grew on me a lot so I guess this might do the same.

I've listened to the new Explosions In the Sky album which leaked yesterday a couple of times now and it's really good. It's a bit softer than their last couple of albums and the songs are a little bit shorter than usual but it works well. Listened to Haelos album as well which is decent, although given it's their debut I had already heard half the songs on it and they're the stronger songs on the album.

Matey Three's new album got a 5* review in this months Q. May well be worth waiting until the album is out for a final judgement.

2/5 in Mojo, who describe it as "kitsch" and "a total saccharine overdose". Sounds like it's going to divide opinions.

More positively, the Iggy/Homme album is a solid effort from all involved, and I've never really listened to her before but Emmy the Great lives up to her name on the new album.

I read the Q review of it the other day and my favourite bit of it was when they somehow managed to fit in a Limmy reference.

That's my activity to amuse myself in work for the next few months sorted! Start shoehorning in Limmy references. "The figures have increased on last period, but only by 0.0001%, which is very small. And that infinitesimally small; that's yur da's cock!".

Emmy is indeed great. Get on the older stuff!

Let me know how it went and esp. what US were like, Tom.

It was awesome, first time in a while that I've enjoyed the support as much as the main act. I haven't been to Heaven in donkeys so going back there was cool too.

US seemed to impress a lot of people. The polite applause after songs turned a lot more genuine after 'Strawberry Glue' and they never looked back from there really. Very enjoyable set and I'll be keeping a close eye on their future movements.

DIIV were awesome too but in their usual unhinged manner

The new Pet Shop Boys song has just been on the radio, even by there standard it's dreadful.

An indefensible turd of a song.

Are they still a thing?

I thought they presented I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here nowadays.

i'm surprised more people didn't like Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1. only 2 minute 15 seconds long but i just cannot get enough of it, ridiculous Kanye verse and all

album's not a classic by any means and i really all over the place but it's still getting regular plays from me! looking forward to the supposed next offering coming this summer

Been listening to Cullen Omori's debut album over the last few days which is good. He was the singer in the Smith Westerns before they broke up and to be honest this album just sounds like another Smith Westerns one but that's certainly not a bad thing.

been meaning to give his stuff a listen. this is very good! the other members' new band Whitney are sounding pretty damn promising as well - have only heard this song so far (not sure if they've released any more) but it's been getting a lot of plays from me. very different from Smith Westerns

Father Stretch My Hands Pt 1 is pretty decent, I actually think the album starts out pretty strongly, but that start gets tarnished when the rest of the record plumbs new depths of unfocused, uninspired dicking around. I'm not surprised he says it's only going onto to Tidal, even Kanye knows this is not a finished piece of work by any stretch of the imagination. The tracks really aren't bad for the most part, they just get seriously let down by the vapid lyrics. Famous is where it starts to go wrong, and it never really pulls it back despite some nice flourishes here and there. No More Parties in LA works best when you listen to it on its own, because by the time I get to it, I've had enough of hearing Kanye's voice.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
