To me anyway, it is absurd to think they could do anything other than headline.

they could headline Other or play a lower on the Pyramid without it being any kind of health and safety issue, but why would they? they're a festival headliner and have been for almost twenty years now. if that's what ends up happening then it's pretty bizarre, unless they just really want to play Glastonbury and were willing to do anything to make it happen (but if this was really the case then surely they would've made their availability known ages ago and be headlining this year). there isn't realistic situation where i can see them playing as much as it pains me to say, but i'm 100% hoping that some kind of fourth headliner deal has been struck, even though Radiohead being that fourth headliner seems odd to me and not something i could see them agreeing to, especially before the three headliners this year

Not that absurd when you think that the last time they played the festival they didn't headline.

yeah and it was fucking pandemonium!

I think it is clear by now that secret sets never remain secret. And because of the caliber of past 'special guests', thousands will show up expecting a Radiohead, Pulp, Libertines etc., to any set that is billed as such

I think the overcrowding issue could be managed. Assuming they headlined another stage against Adele, that would already draw 75,000+ people away.

Other stage headliner is definitely possible, but it just seems to contradict the New Order information. I still believe if they are on the bill, they will sub headline the Pyramid (assuming Adele is indeed headlining).

And it'd be even worse in 2016 with smartphones and battery packs the norm.

After this announcement and the Glastonbury gap in their schedule is Adele still so certain? Need to decide whether to spend the rest of my overdraft on roundhouse. Need to see them, but already have Glastonbury tickets and don't need to be spending even more. Already going to Roses in June.

honestly, i would be a bit worried for my safety if they play anywhere but the pyramid or other stage.

my friends was there in 2011 at the park, almost fainted due to a lack of oxygen in a stampede. was just too crowded.

i'm pretty sure the festival is aware of what happened last time.

They obviously have not learnt a thing. They decided to put Fat boy Slim on in The Blues last year and to this day I have no idea how no one got seriously hurt.

That was madness. We were walking by that and it took us about 30 minutes to fight through the crowds.

yeah that was fucking stupid. my group had just started to wade through the crowd before somebody walking past said 'don't bother', so we didn't

But in its new area...? Is it being moved for reasons other than just to shake things up - to provide a bigger capacity in the immediate area so they can put on bigger acts maybe?

Would be interesting to see the map/layout. If there's only one way in/out of the area then the crowds could definitely be restricted from entering if it got too busy - that's what they did at Latitude for the Thom Yorke secret set last summer.

It'd be nice if the new John Peel location had a moat and a drawbridge surrounding it for use in scenarios such as Radiohead secret sets.

Going rate these days. Not that I agree with it, but that's what it is.

I'll pay it.

Atoms for Peace at the Roundhouse was priced at just under £60, so yeah I guess it was never gonna be below that.

Sorry if this has already been addressed but this topic is moving so fast! The roundhouse seems a pretty small capacity venue for a band that could headline a major festival - do others reckon there's going to be more uk dates next year?

    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
    • Yeh, the quiet camping also seems to be on the same side (broadly) as the bits of the festival that go on the latest (Far Out / Chai Waalahs / RTT until 4am). We're always in Tangerine Fields which is right behind the main stage and as soon as that and Rising Stage are done it's pretty quiet (midnight onwards) which I'd guess is pretty similar if you can hack taking all your gear from the car past the big tree in the middle and into the campsites that side.
    • Can't see Bimble line up anywhere - am I being dense and missing an obvious release somewhere?
