  1. Speaking of Beastie Boys - they said it pretty well... "I want to say a little something that's long overdue / the disrespect to women has got to be through / To all the mothers and the sisters and the wives and friends / I wanna offer my love and respect 'til the end" Saw them when I was 14. Now that was a formative gig experience!
  2. yeah, don't worry, it won't stop me going to gigs. It's weird because it can feel very personal, like a) how dare you and b) I feel differently about a band I love now. Which might not make a huge amount of sense but it can taint an experience that would otherwise be completely positive. So it's heartening to see discussions like this happening at least. Let's wipe that shit out
  3. I love a solo gig - it's probably conditioning from growing up and none of my friends really liking the music I liked - so I had to get used to going on my own! Now I do have friends that like the music I like but it's still fun to go alone sometimes. Just have to be much more aware of my surroundings if I'm at a gig by myself
  4. It's rubbish tbh. I've been going to gigs since I was 12; I'm 25 now. It's basically my favourite thing to do, which is why I do it so much, but 3 times in the last month or so I've been inappropriately touched by men at gigs. Usually you can't even see (for sure) in a crowd who's doing what, which I think is taken advantage of. At one last week I could for sure and turned around and shouted at the guy to fuck off, but generally there's no recourse. It just means moving to the back when I'd rather be near the front so I can see who's grabbing me. And yeah, you do just get dickheads at gigs. I've been with male friends and dudes have started on them for no reason. However I don't think it's made them think twice about going to gigs again, whereas yep, it's made me not want to do my favourite thing ever again.
  5. Had tickets for Gaga's tour which got postponed and then cancelled so I'm 10,000% in - just hope she's in good health Thought A Star is Born was a pretty rubbish film but she was great
  6. Busted was a highlight of 2017 for me - it was just great fucking fun.
  7. I'd reckon Wolf Alice for Other headliner but this album touring cycle will likely be done by June
  8. My first was 2009. I was mad into gigs and had wanted to go for years but was too young/couldn't afford it (I was 16 when I saved up from my weekend job and made it in 2009). I bought the tickets in October, then in December my favourite band in the whole world announced they were getting back together, then they announced they were headlining Glastonbury. That was quite lucky. Remember watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off in the cinema tent during the thunder storm, and not knowing if Michael Jackson was really dead. I had a real job convincing friends to go with me at 16/17/18 so my group's actually got a lot bigger over the years, and our group for 2019 is the biggest yet. I guess people are more bothered about festivals in their mid-20s than their teens. Can't wait to go back.
  9. Last couple of years I've been the one that's got through for the group so everyone was assuming that I had the magic touch and would sort the group again. Which really stressed me out and I sternly told everyone else that they had to try properly because it's all just total luck! Mate got through at 9.03, which is one of our fastest ever. Took a few minutes to go through and froze on the payment page, which I had to coach her through ("DON'T REFRESH") but got the confirmation before 10 past. Rest of us carried on trying for others but didn't even get another booking page. Pretty chuffed. Going with a larger group and a few newbies as well as the old crowd, which I'm really happy about. I've bought in the regular and secret resales before so know the pain well.
