Anyhoo...

... @Mardy did you continue your RH quest after In Rainbows?

Went to the record shop on Saturday, and the copy of 'hail to the thief' had gone, and It's not easy finding records in this town. I've lost momentum on this a bit, will definitely give them some time next weekend.

Ooo, I had you marked down for Amnesiac. Interesting.

Let us know.

NB: I reckon you'll like either more than In Rainbows.

They've got Amnesiac, but it's pricey, and cos i was toying with coming back to the UK for a flying visit next week, i thought i'd pick it up for half that price from Amazon. But looks like i won't be back till May, so i might just bite the bullet and get it here. We'll see how this week goes.

Vinyl from amazon? You not got a record shop near you in England?

I think the problem is he's not in the UK.

No. He said he thought he'd be coming back to England soon and could therefore get it cheap on amazon when he was here.

I've just re-read three times and I think you're right.  Half price seems to be the important part.

Increasing my opinion of Scruff's rightness.

Yeah, that's sort of true. I can't afford to spunk 35 quid on a single album at the moment.

there's a record shop in my uk town now, which is great, and i do buy from it whenever i'm home, but the selection is pretty limited.

    • Yeah I did spot that AXS had more available for the O2 shows Muse are doing, though I think that comes with the territory of AXS now being the venue's primary ticket selling platform.    My instinct remains they'll probably still play to a big crowd on the night - sales were similarly slow in 2023 but videos of those gigs showed the venue looking pretty much full. Equally it probably would be sold out if the pricing was even just slightly less ridiculous. Shave up to £50 off some of these categories and I think that would've got people to go with it.
    • Some are definitely already there with that and with another round of inflation looking like it's on the way, it certainly locks that in. And I say that as someone who also isn't willing to break the £100 marker.
    • A lot of people have said this online but does the Marvel world need new cities to play with? New York seems to be a target of all the villains to the point where you wonder why anyone in that world still lives there. Much as you can accuse me of overthinking it I guess haha.    I do agree that The Void is a compellingly different villain in many respects given the superpower is trapping people in their most traumatic memories. Shame in some respects the film came out in the post-Endgame funk Marvel seems stuck in and a lot of people missed out on it.    Speaking of, I rewatched Infinity War the other day. First time I think I've seen it since seeing it in the cinema on its opening day. Holds up pretty well imo - I have issues sometimes with ensemble casts and jumping between 4/5 storylines but it felt this one got the balance right and also properly explored Thanos. So it was good.
    • I didn't think I'd ever watched a Coben adaptation or read one of the original books, though turns out I did - I watched one called The Stranger back in 2020. Clearly didn't stick long in my memory as until researching it, I didn't know that was one of his. Queens Gambit or Black Mirror, it was not.    But clearly it's popular tripe in some respect if Netflix is going yes to everything he has to offer and are apparently about to start trying his most popular individual character, as seen below:   https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2026/jul/30/how-harlan-coben-became-the-king-of-potboiler-tv   Plus hey. Sometimes people get a kick from watching something and deriding it as crap. Don't let this internet rando stop you haha
