What is this, suggest a band for the legends slot year?  Jeff Lynne's ELO, I can just about buy as it's practically a solo slot, but Tears for Fears and Duran Duran?  They might play, but not legend slot, no way. If Burt Bacharach can play the festival, but in a different slot, then there's no way that bands who were big in the 80's are suddenly going to be doing it.  Not a chance.

when that was said, it was 100% accurate.

Things do sometimes change. While it does happen that false claims are sometimes made of exclusivity, they're more likely to be accurate and things change than an outright lie is made.

There's no particular reason to think things will change with Billy Joel, tho. So it's unlikely.

People seem to mention bands a fair bit in reference to the legends slot....I guess there's always a first time for everything but a band has never done it before so I'm not sure why they'd change up the 'formula' now.

I don't think anyone's enjoyment is based on the fact the person performing is billed as solo.

I am not convinced of this "bands can't play the Legends Slot" nonsense. I think it's been solo acts because there's plenty of other slots that legendary bands could play, but as we (hopefully) work our way towards cheesy, ironic acts then there will be bands playing the slot as they won't have as many slots they could play unlike the other more "credible" bands. Also, bands are more likely to break up whereas solo acts can hawk their shit around much longer.

Maybe I'm just looking for a reason why Wham! could do it.

Stepping back in to reality for a little, it would be so weird if Wham did actually play. The only reason that you'd go there would be to see the other people that would go to see Wham at Glastonbury. It's a vicious circle.

Well, that's not really the only reason some would go. I'm sure there are people out there that would love to dance to Club Tropicana one more time. You know who you are.

It's not that bands *can't* do it, it's just that they never have, so all these suggestions of bands are likely to be bad predictions.
