The words used where? Didn't the guy who supplied the rumour specifically state that it was for the Park?

yep ... but have just quizzed him for info, and that was part of what came out of it.

He heard "newest stage" and assumed The Park. It could be applied to other stages just as easily, including JP and Other.

hey, I'm starting to think there might be something to the Slayer thing (really )

They have one show announced in the UK, for Bloodstock in August. They haven't been announced as an exclusive for that.

They're on tour in Europe around Glastonbury, and they have space in their tourdates to do it.

It's a wacky wacky idea that I've completely ignored as that for over three weeks ... but it's also so wacky, who knows, there might be something to it. (Maybe, even, cos Emily is a secret Slayer fan :P).

I'm not really thinking it's likely, but I don't think I can keep ignoring it. As a rumour it's as credible as plenty of others that people take seriously.

Just because I know how loved Noel is on here:

When asked about the current situation of rock, he went: “Look at this festival, there’s no rock band”, saying he loves Florence and the Machine, but she’s not rock as well as Eminem [who performed at Lollapalooza, too]. He then said: “Besides myself, I don’t know anyone today who represents rock’n’roll”.
He added that among the new groups on the scene none of them impresses him, making him say “I wish I wrote that”.

I bet he's made up at the Glastonbury headliners. He's a self confessed Coldplay fan and no doubt he thinks muse are 'proper rock' too.

He's a cretinous turd.

JP is moving - technically 'new'?

Yeah the new John peel could be going for more heavier acts?

That would make sense and give a reason for moving it. It would also make it 'special' again for Radiohead and their fans since they're not one of the massive headliners this year.

That could also be reference the Other Stage, which is also new.

Or even the West Holts Stage which was rebranded about 5 years go.

Or the Hell Stage, which is probably the largest genuinely new stage in the last 5ish years. Yeah, I know there was stuff in the area previously, but I think there's less of a direct lineage there than for the others mentioned.

Hell, wasn't The Spaceport completely new in 2015?

To be honest, "newest stage" is such a vague description that it could mean almost anything.

Deftones are pretty big tho. They don't need to accept third stage kinda slots if they're already right up near the top of the bill at their usual festivals and headlining Wembley Arena and stuff.

A tent dedicated to smaller rock/metal/punk acts might work alright somewhere but an actual big tent where they'd have to muscle in on the already oversaturated rock festival market to get a load of acts that most punters won't know or care about would be an awful move. Better dispersed across the line up, like the Slayer-Park rumour would perhaps suggest.

It's a weird one though isn't it? Metallica were pencilled in for the Other, so there might be a thought in the metal community that if you play Glastonbury, you'll have to play a stage lower than what you're used to. You get infinitely more exposure than playing any other festival so they might just think it's worth it.

I'll be happy if they're on the bill anywhere to be honest!

Not only that but can I suggest most heavier bands suit an indoor/tent kind of stage more then a big outdoor stage in the sunshine(as they would be as I cant see any such bands in a headline slot unless they really have got a big name like deftones), the atmosphere seems to suit the music more and the intensity of the show seems more when `inside` to a point.

I do agree with you, but to be fair I first saw Deftones at Download in 2006 playing a sunset slot on the main stage and it was absolutely epic. Really suited the time of day and open air stage.

Is this still the thread where we can throw lineup release day and time suggestions out there?

If so can someone please suggest today so I have an excuse to do nothing but refresh this website?

Cheers

After a bad week of not being paid on time I off to a great start for the weekend. Got paid finally, awesome band I saw at Glastonbury on Thursday last year announced a gig in Leeds, great night out last night on the cocktails ending in the sensible one of my friends being sick, looking forward to some much overdue time with family this weekend

There is one thing missing.....I feel it! 2pm!
