New Order and Depeche Mode have certainly made tunes with as much variety as the Beatles.

Although I am not a massive fan of the Beatles I do have huge respect for what they achieved and the experimentation they carried out. They were genuine trail blazers and innovators who happened to some how wrap it all up into pop songs

When I was growing up in the 80;s, there seemed to be a genuine aura that surrounded the Beatles,

In this digital age it would be interesting to think about how The Beatles would sound today.

It kinda reminds me of Noel Gallagher, i watched him at rock wercher and his oasis stuff was pretty good but his other stuff also stinked besides the odd 1-2 songs which i expected better of. And i agree with Paul's solo stuff then comparing it to his Beatles stuff.

For those of us who don't want to read a full page interview with Chris Martin, what did he say about Glastonbury?

Indeed. I'll be fucked if I'm reading that c**ts shite, but am curious why that fellow earlier thinks he should now be TBA.

He tells a joke. Roughly..

Did you hear about the Muslim guy who lost his wallet? Someone finds it and hands it to him. The Muslim is very grateful and says to the guy "Listen, as a favour, let me warn you. Don't go to Glastonbury this year". The other guy thanks him and says "Thanks, why not?" and the Muslim says "Because Coldplay are playing"

Me too. It doesn't make them anymore concrete than they have been for weeks and weeks

Ta.

I think that justifies me not wanting to read it.

There's always this thing that goes around social media almost every Christmas time that tells a story of someone helping a Muslim and them thanking them by warning of a terrorist attack in a large public space like a shopping centre etc...

It's a sh!t joke that plays off an imaginary, yet borderline racist 'story'.

I love Coldplay and hate Radiohead..... I'm like the glitch in the efestivals network!

I'm indifferent to both, they are effectively equal.

Whilst we're here: I also think LCD Soundsystem are not very good.  The Libertines are only famous because everything else was shittier than them.  Arcade Fire are okay.  ELO are uninteresting.  Blur haven't made a good album (but some good songs) since Modern Life Is Rubbish.  The Stone Roses are terrible live (I've seen them three times across the years, always bad).  Whoever headlines Glastonbury it'll have little to no bearing on whether you have an enjoyable festival.

Clearly Ozric Tentacles should headline Pyramid on the Sunday, with Jean Michael Jarre's 80's light show.

I can't talk about Depeche Mode but I'm a huge New Order fan and no way have they as varied a catalogue as the Beatles output; which they managed all in the space of just 7 or 8 years as well let's not forget.

blimey, he really is a whopping great tit isnt he.

That 'article' is such a puddle of wasted jizz the only thing it's good for is mopping up it's own wasted jizz.

I find it odd that CM tells that tactless 'joke'. Isn't he a Christian?

Good for? Have you ever tried mopping up jizz with more jizz? I swear jizz is actually a jizz-repellent, and only pushes away any further jizz that you are trying to mop up.

    • Morocco are a good side, know what it takes in tournaments. Semi final last world cup, AFCON winners (kind off). No one should under estimate Morocco, I think they will win the group and get to the quarters minimum.
    • Came to the same decision after age 40. I'm lucky enough now to be able to manage on only 4 days work, in a job that does not expect me to do more than my contracted hours.
    • Looking like it will be beautiful weather at the end of June. Long hot summer predicted by various places including our favourite netweather nerds. Let's hope we get a repeat this time next year. 🌞
    • Just finished Spider Noir which was far better than I expected it was going to be. Nic Cage clearly having a ball chewing up the scenery and the most Irish Brendon Gleeson you have ever seen. Watch in authentic black and white only for the best experience.
    • After realising that I couldn't remember how season 4 ended I decided to rewatch the whole lot. I stopped after 4 episodes of S4 to watch Gen V season 1 as there is quite a bit of crossover then finished S4 before Gen V Season 2. Finished off with S5 of The Boys and I was a little disappointed. I still enjoyed it and they did well to wrap everything up but the inexplicable lack of budget for the final season really stood out for me.
