Headliners 2016

Chris Martin is clearly not a racist. He's used a version of that "joke" because it's been doing the rounds again recently. Nothing more.

He is cringe enducing though. But even though I despise what Coldplay have become and won't be anywhere near the Pyramid when they're on, I struggle to muster any real hate for Chris Martin. His cameo in Extras and the Comic Relief: Game of Thrones sketch show that he really doesn't take himself too seriously.

Wooah!, I haven't read the part but why would anyone suggest Chris Martin being a racist? As you say, they have become a bit shite now but he is a model professional in music and gives a LOT to people who can be helped in the need. I won't be watching but I'll sign any petition to KEEP Coldplay on the bill!

Because he made a racist joke in Q magazine.

Whatever, man. I'm starting the petition to remove Coldplay the second they're announced...

Nah I agree. Just a bit of a daft blunder.

No, No, No, don't back down. This is our sliver of hope. The 'Chris Martin is a racist and Coldplay should be banned from Glastonbury' petition is our moment. At some point in life people are called to make a stand. This is our moment. Martine McCutcheon was singing about *this moment*

Do you want to be the person who has to look at your grandchildren's sad eyes and say " I could have tried harder to stop it, I turned a blind eye" or the person your grandchildren, your great grandchildren look up to when you say "I made a stand".

This is not a time for soundbites but I feel the hand of history upon our shoulders. This is not the time to falter

I like my Rock 'n' Rollers to be model professionals. It's what made it great, man.

Stirring stuff, Keithy.

We shall defend our frstival whatever the cost. We shall fight them in the fields and SE Corner. We shall fight them in the hills. We shall never surrender. Although I don't really like fighting.

Perhaps a tantric yoga stand-off/showdown in the healing fields then. I do a mean downward facing dog.

That's one of the great gigs of all time for my money.

Also on your previous post - nice to see someone else who loves Riff Raff! Possibly their most underrated song.

That's a pretty nasty thing to do to a dog, no matter whether he's mean or not.

I don't care. I made that b!tch famous.

Please note that the author does not share any of Mr West's mysogynistic views, and the above quote was a lame attempt at canine based humour.

It's awful to think both AC/DC and the Roses are doing shows in June and free over the weekend and yet it looks very much like we aren't going to end up with either :(.

I think I'm ok with it.

I can take or leave doing the Roses Karaoke again and no-one in their right mind wants AC/DC to play and see Gnomicide run around in his pants in utter delight.

He will, you know.

I don't think there's anyone I want to see headline the Pyramid more than the Roses. (OK, maybe Zeppelin).

And to have Whole Lotta Rosie played up there I'm willing to accept a semi-naked Scouser running amok... you know there's going to be a few of those anyway ;)

My point entirely. That's frankly fucking terrifying!

In a careless hippy kind of way... can we consider just removing the downvote altogether? Admin can still bar the really offensive stuff?

And where would that leave our sarcastic hatred from a distance?! Jeez!

    • Pretty much all festivals lose out on major artists because of production limitations though. Glastonbury is no different to most other festivals.  Lots of acts can/will adapt their tour production to suit festival stages if they want to play them, but some acts with stage designs and routines just don't want to adapt, and would rather just stick with a rigid, well-rehearsed production and take the money for their own gigs, whether that's a lot more than playing Glastonbury, or slightly less than playing some other festivals (but with added complications). Trying to adapt the stage, layout, access to b-stages etc to accommodate a single headliner on a Friday and then having to change it all around for a Saturday headliner isn't really a goer when most headliners can just easily adapt their show to stay on a main stage, if they're so inclined. They have a year to figure out how to perform a song on a main stage and ditch a few dance routines out on a b-stage if they really put their mind to it. It's not that difficult......
