If Blur aren't a big enough draw to sell tickets for BST then are they still good enough to headline Glastonbury? I think it they don't announce them until June it will be a bit of an anti climax.

BST is a strange beast though. A lot of people have turned their backs on it because Hyde park is such a terrible venue with shite sound.

That's without considering that blur have played Hyde park 3 times already in 6 years, and the tickets are £80 . It's no surprise it's not selling well, the market is saturated.

The Fall and James?! Mental whoever suggested they could headline.

Blur methinks, with Flo subbing

As I said " a couple of outsiders". Beats talking about Blur and BST payment plans for the next 8 weeks. Just thinking (very) outside the the box as GF are clearly scrabbling around at the 11th hour to sort a 3rd headliner so it might be a bit leftfield and not particularly strong.

It probably is going to be Blur however in the last 2 months it's 'probably going to be Madonna', 'probably going to be Prince', 'probably going to be FM', etc so all bets are off IMO.

I'm fairly sure it's not just Blur who have tickets left for their date at BST. To my knowledge, Taylor Swift and The Rolling Stones are the only two acts to fully sell it out. I don't think it's so much an indication of the headliner's size and more that an increasing number of people may be realising just how awful a proposition any sort of live music event in Hyde Park is these days.

Edit: Beaten to by basically everyone else!

By the sounds of things - tho I'm not sure (I did ask Emily, but I'm uncertain of what she said back due to noise) - it seems that the 3rd headliner is something that been put together in the last week(ish).

given that you had info that the headliners were all booked quite a while ago, do you think that info wasn't correct now?

or do you think someone has cancelled within the last few months?

at least GFL would probably be covered on contract/insurance by a cancellation.

In convinced we will get to the bottom of who's headlining quite soon, whether it comes from other info IE someone currently not touring announcing something, or revelations of someone who is touring doing more, currently though I have nothing to give to the argument

I'm not *too* bothered with who the 3rd headliner is anymore, I'm more excited to get an overall announcement as I'm sure I'll find something exciting to do on the Sunday night.

yea, complete agreement a hundred or so acts to get me dreaming on wednesday is more than enough for me.

It does amaze me on these threads how much chat does go into the headliners where by the sounds of it most of the posters will be somewhere else anyway

I think it's all still up in the air. Neil's info contained a lot of 'apparently', 'couldn't hear for the noise', 'someone said' etc., and all the acts we're talking ourselves into thinking won't be there are still rumoured. Nobody has been elevated to a strong rumour yet.

It could well be Prince. It could well be Fleetwood Mac ('Michael sad it wasn't' hardly holds much weight). It could be Blur. It could be Madonna. It could be Swift. It could be Bowie. It could be Ainsley Harriott on a fucking pogo stick. Everything is in play.

was just thinking that myself. Surprised to see Blur aren't 'SR'.

    • Possibly not as there are chair size restrictions in the seated area, for the guidelines see here -  https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/bring   Have a look into applying for Access and I would recommend contacting them for further advice before buying a ticket - https://www.bbc.co.uk/backstage/radio2inthepark/access  They should also be able to answer if you can take a wheelchair into the seated area 🙂
    • Jawbreaker for the band that nobody would predict?
    • Jason Isbell and Blue October in London, both gigs on SFF
    • They don't strike me as a band that'd even enter the conversation for Trees
