Ive been reading this (and all the others) with excitement and fear!

Would LOVE it to be the purple one, like many, I've been wanting him there for years so Im keeping the faith for that one.

Missed Blur and Prodigy a few years ago (thanks to taking my kids that year and being made to watch Black eyed Peas) but after seeing Damon solo and also Gorrilaz at G a few years ago and found it non personable and lacklustre so in the past Id have been happy with Blur but less so now. Also used to LOVE prodigy but now I'm all 'meh' over them.

My choice if not the purple one would be Depeche Mode. You can keep your Flo (wailey bird) and as big as FM are, Im not *too* familiar with their back catalogue but I suppose I'd give em a watch.

But this is all my opinion and more musing than anything else. Looking forward to the announcement (or not!) Wednesday

Same gap as Coldplay headlining 2005 and 2011.

Coldplay had done two albums worth of material in the meantime tho. For me it should be a simple 'two albums or 10 years' rule for repeating Pyramid headliners, appreciate that Glasto aren't likely to turn down the likes of the Arctics if said band ask to do it tho. Edited by Zac Quinn

I didn't get a ticket to 2009 so happy to be seeing blur if they do play (I saw them at Wolverhampton and it was great) Florence or Taylor into Blur would be great and if people don't want to see Blur again could easily find something else to do

Blur haven't sold out their BST, and if they announce Glastonbury that's 100,000 Glasto people who could've bought Blur tickets and definitely won't because they're seeing them at G anyway.

I suppose, it's just about weighing up these Glastonbury goers who wouldn't go to HP, against the people who would buy HP tickets based on any publicity of a Glastonbury announcement.

I don't think Blur being announced for Glasto makes anyone say "Hey yeah, I should pay £80 to go see Blur elsewhere!" - It makes people say "Damn, I wish I was at Glasto".

It's probably more of a courtesy, anyway. The BST guys would be a bit upset if their tickets weren't shifting and Blur said "Oh hey guys, we're at Glastonbury so if you were thinking of buying a BST ticket and you're already going to Glasto, don't bother!".

Well then would that give me the right to down vote all the people who say it is Blur?..

No just because you're suggesting silly things that just wouldn't happen.. Blur headlining the other stage? They are headlining hyde park for gods sake and headliners at absolutely every festival they've played for years. If they are playing, they are headlining.. and whether they are headlining or not is up for debate but they are one of the most likely names!

If it's Blur they'll be doing something that I don't think they've done in the last 20 years: repeated a headliner without an obvious change of status.

Coldplay in 2002 only had one album out, by 2005 they were one of the biggest bands in the world, in 2011 they were bigger still and had become relative veterans.

In 1997, when Radiohead headlined, OK Computer had only been out for a couple of weeks - at that stage they were nowhere near the huge act they were in 2003.

When Arctic Monkeys headlined in 2007 they were still quite young. By 2013 they were seen as an experienced act,

Unless Blur have some surprising hit singles between now and June, I see no difference between Blur in 2009 and Blur now - i.e. a reformed 90s act.

If Emily thinks FATM are big enough to headline, then why would she not give them a chance? Booking Blur doesn't fit in with comments the Eavises have made and their apparent booking policy of recent years, but then I suppose there is a first time for everything.

Crossing my fingers for Sleater Kinney in Weds line up but given that they've never appeared on Neil's rumour line-up, I think that I'm gonna be disappointed.

They are also my number 1 hope from the announcement on Wednesday although if they do play, I expect it to be as headliners of the Park on Saturday night, subsequently clashing with my only other 'must see' (act as it stands), Kanye.

Sunday night is potentially looking like it could be rather uninspired if Blur and Chems are two of the main stage headliners.

wow! down votes for having an opinion, how sad!

Ahhhh, diddums...

I'm still none the wiser! Still think it's unlikely to be Blur, and if it is I'll probably be elsewhere.

Didn't Emily say all three headliners were booked in the efests interview? Was she telling porkies or has there been a dropout?

I still reckon it's Flo. Managing expectations.

I had tickets for Wolverhampton (and my hotel booked and paid for) but couldn't make it. I was gutted. Was it a good gig?
