I reckon they'll be some sort of apology from Joyce that'll allow Morrissey to feel it's all OK. After all, it's probably Joyce that'll be the one feeling he needs the money.

Or, alternatively, it'll be just Morrissey and Marr using the name.

I just can't see Morrissey noticing what his contemporaries are doing with big reforms of acclaim and money without him thinking he should have some too.

I think that The Smiths' standing $8m offer from Coachella says something like 'The Smiths or any Morrissey/Marr venture' so they'll still rake in the big bucks without Rourke and/or Joyce.

But I don't agree that it'll eventually happen. If anyone would be too proud for the reunion shenanigans it's Steven Patrick M.

Would kill me to see them announced as a headliner this year as Im not going for the first time since 05, even if the same 20 tunes being played. If they do tour im hoping to catch em again as I had to sell my Heaton Park tics and did a Dublin gig from the disabled area which was "grand" but not exactly what I was thinking seeing them for the first time would be like

I would be excited about a new album but although I really liked them live, not sure a big gig at the Etihad excites me that much. It won't be nearly as good as Heaton Park (especially that first night) and I saw them at a pretty small venue in Sydney too. 

 

That said I'd probably still buy tickets. Glasto would be pretty special but can't see it happening - the money wouldn't be good enough for one.

I think if it's just a few final farewell shows like someone suggested then they would be fine without bothering with new material. It'd be nice to hear some new stuff but the odds are so stacked against it being well received that you wonder why they'd bother.

Not everyone releases music for critical acclaim or just to make money.
