I think he just realised that V had him as an exclusive this year

Pulled out? Great news, being questioned by insufferable c**ts about "How can you not of watched Dolly Parton?" was bad enough. I can't imagine how much it would annoy me when being questioned about a dictator who claims he's been re-incarnated 14 times but will never be re-incarnated again.

yes, I get annoyed when people don't know how to use "of" and "have" correctly too.

Excuse my ignorance, but how come these reincarnations of Buddha keep manifesting themselves in Tibet / China when Buddha was Indian? If they can pop up anywhere, why not a caucasian Buddhist somewhere or Thailand or India or wherever?

Please enlighten me.

Indeed - I do wonder how some of the armchair republicans here feel about people being born into the position too. Not that I'd accuse anyone here of inconsistency or hypocrisy in their approach to life of course :)

Wasn't Dr Who in a similar situation a couple of years back?

They are not reincarnations of Buddha - just reincarnations of earlier Dalai Lamas, which go back to the 1300s. But the same question is valid - why do they all pop up in the same area?

It is all a bit sad (or amusing, depending on your standpoint) when religions split into political factions, arguing about which group has the best way to worship the same space fairy.

I am sure the Dalai Lama has some good things to say about finding happiness within yourself, and generally being a good person, and as an atheist I will happily listen to what he has to say. But when so many branches of Buddhism argue amongst themselves about how to do it, to the point of violence, it sort of defeats the purpose of it all.
